I Pulled a Siu

Yup, I cut myself. While chopping veggies for a salad. Thankfully the knife was quite sharp and so the cut is clean and not very deep. It's safely bandaged and should heal quickly.

It's not dinner without a little blood.

Maybe I should thank her for the inspiration?

I used mueller sport tape and a bit of tissue to bandage it. It's my default. Works well.

If it's still bleeding when I take off the bandage tomorrow, that's the next step.

Someone needs to work on their cutting technique.

I still remember that time I cut the tip of a finger almost clean off -- it was like a muppet mouth, just attached at the back. Ah, the memories. Almost as good as when I got my first Swiss Army Knife the day before my Grade 1 guitar exam. If only I had known Siu's crazy glue method...

I knew there were a few "I cut myself" threads and tried to find Siu's, but this one will do.

I cut myself.

I started looking at the knife threads a couple of months ago and got intrigued. I had never really been exposed to knives as collectibles or even anything beyond just utility use.

So...after spending too much time trying to figure out a good first EDC knife, I finally picked up a Kershaw Leek off eBay. It came last week and I really like it. Fun to take out and just flip open.

Well...tonight I flipped it open, then in the process of closing it, the tip caught me in the soft fleshy part between my thumb and forefinger. Tiny little cut but boy did it bleed. I held it under the faucet but that just made it worse, so I used basic first aid and applied pressure for about a minute, which stopped the bleeding.

When the knife arrived, the first thing I noticed was how dang sharp the tip was and thought that it would ultimately be the source of a self inflicted wound. I guess I was right.

No pics. It owns me now.

I'm very proud of you. But you didn't use the super glue. *shakes head*

Those leeks are nice eh? Not bad for a Ken Onion. So what knife are you getting next??

I thought about joining the "I cut myself" club. Then I decided that I didn't like pain that much. Or seeing my own blood (again).

I'm such a wuss.

Ouch, that happened to me too. Joe came home to find me crying in the bathroom, unable to do anything but hold my finger under the water.

I cut part of my finger completely off....in front a customer when I was working at Wally World. I think it effected her more then it did me, as she turned whiter then a cotton sheet. I went to the back room and started washing it when the Asst. Mgr came in, took one look at it and got someone to drive me to the ER. The dumbass dr. cauterized it with no pain killer to get it to stop bleeding. I can still remember that...holding onto my finger with one hand and then searing pain! a few minutes later he told me to lay back cause he thought I was going to faint....son of a *****, that was painful....but the real pain was the next day, when it started throbbing! Thank God he gave me some good painkillers whcih I promptly took...can't tell you anything about the next 4 days
