I tried a taste of guinness after a hard ride, read in Bicycling mag how good it was health wise, but I decided here in central bluegrass of KY Horsefarms, I'd rather catch a stallion whilst pissing but can't figure out how to get it cold fast. (I hear it only tastes good when fresh - spoils quickly). This years derby winner is on 3 chimneys horse farm, only a half mile from were I write this.

Sierra Nevada. Excellent beers: Pale Ale, Porter, Stout... all tasty. Not only does the beer taste good, they sponsor a top-notch Division III cycling team.

and they sell cool jerseys too

I'm really grooving on Berghoff Dark right now. Just finished the last of the 12 that I bought yesterday. Mostly, though, I tend to stick to Killians or Guinness.

I have three favourites and I consider all in different categories.
  1. Guinness
  2. Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout
  3. Redhook (Nitro Porter and Nutbrown are my favourites)

But in the end, I've only found one of the three that actually sells jerseys...

Stone Brewery, makers of the ever yummy, and surprisingly arse-kicking arrogant bastard ale.

www.arrogantbastard.com Gotta love any company that will call their ales by such a name

edit: almost forgot the breweryhomepage www.stonebrew.com

Yeah, I've been there... not recently though. But I haven't seen a Guinness cycling jersey yet. I'd love one if it were available.

Specify which micro? Crap man every town within 500miles of here has a brewery and the bigger ones have a couple, plus several pubs that brew their own, homebrewers are not uncommon around here either, and we have plenty of importers too.

I think it's the cool cloudy depressing weather and proximity to a major hop growing area(they grow wild behind the local park, it was a hop farm 100 years ago)- espresso and beer on every corner.

My favorites:
Paulaner; Salvtor; dopple bock

Ayinger; Oktober fest-marzen

Deschutes; Obsidian stout; Way different than Guinness, I think it might be a sweet stout, tastes like esspresso

Alaskan; oatmeal stout

Alaskan; smoked porter

Snoqualmie Falls; Wildcat; india pale ale

Most american style Brown ales; Petes wicked, Moose drool, my homebrew(people offered me full retail price for it, I said ok, now its gone )

Maritime Pacific; Jolly Roger; Christmas Ale/english old/strong ale

Stone; Double Bastard; barley wine (big bro to Arrogant Bastard old ale)

Hales; Cream ale; A light brew, nitro charged like a draught Guinness for a very smooth creamy texture and taste.

Steel Reserve 211; high gravity silver label; for when you want to get screwed quik and cheap, yet it tastes ok, unlike most malt liquor.(I don't drink 211 but all my mates do and they like it. I did try one.)

I have a Feldschlossen cycling jersey! That's the Swiss stuff.

Why not play rugby, Guinness have rugby jersesys and baseball caps.

Killian's Red is my beer of choice.

Schlafly, Guiness, and Pete's Wicked Ale (in that order) are my other favorites.

Honestly though, I'll drink just about any kind of beer and enjoy it. Can't say the same for wine or hard liquor.
