Put my iPod Shuffle through the wash

...damn! Maybe if I put it through a dryer cycle now! Had it attached to the jacket I had just ridden with.

This is a 2GB 2nd generation. They don't sell em anymore and I was addicted to that thing.

What ever you do, don't turn it on. Remove the speaker jack and place it in bag with silica desiccant (or a bag of rice) to pull out the moisture. Place it in the sun. Give it a like three days before you try and sync it/charge it/turn it on.

Mine worked just fine after a wash cycle.

Did you like me attempt to turn it on first?

Pour gasoline on it and set it on fire to make sure all the moisture evaporates. It should work fine after that.

I'm sure the music will sound cleaner after you get it all dried up.

I'd recommend some WD-40, it's designed to displace water.

and you can set it on fire to get rid of any residue from wd-40

Put it in a hot car. I did that with a cell phone that was so full of waterthe screen had a bubble floating in it, it dried out and worked fine.

Apple will be happy that you washed your iPod. they really love guys like you.

Seriously...the tips above are bang on. Activating a damp product may cause the battery to short and then the games up.

Setting it on fire is the only option left to you. Relish that experience before buying another.

From the short time I spent looking on ebay, they aren't particularly cheap. I may continue to look there but I tried a bid of $70 on a 2GB last night and didn't get it. There's likely more 1GB available at better prices. Those 2GB shuffles weren't on the market very long.

I found one of those little iPods on the local walking path. It's pretty nice and holds a lot of music.

^^^believe it or not, the first shuffle I owned I dropped somewhere. It was a silver 1GB.

I'm clearly not responsible enough to own one.

If your wife washes you, does she have to set you on fire too...................

I had an iPod Nano that went MIA last fall. It was missing so long I'd gone out an bought a Zune to replace it. Couple weeks later I was sweeping the puddles of water and leaves off the drive and there is was, submerged in a puddle covered with leaves. It had not only been sitting in a puddle, the wife had driven her car over it multiple times.

It didn't turn on when I tried it, no surprise it had been missing at least a month. I plugged it in and after a couple minutes I got the charge indicator. Couple hours later it was charged. Click wheel wasn't very responsive, I let it sit overnight to dry and it's been working fine since.

My first gen Shuffle has seen numerous soakings as it was my go to device for commuting.

All efforts to rescue this have so far failed. I was able to land a new one on ebay for about the cost of the new 3rd generation 2gb shuffle.
