Things you'd sell first should you get into financial burden

We all have something we'd be willing to sacrifice if need be. What would you let go?

For me:

The knives. I'd let them go first. Quick money, holds their value somewhat and I know a bunch of people that would want them.

Probably first have a major garage sale to get rid of all the general junk one accumulates over the years. If I had to get rid of my valuable stuff, I'd probably start with my woodworking tools. They typically go under-utilized for most of the time.

Forgot about a garage sale. Yeah, I'd actually do that first. Then the knives. *whew* Thanks for that, Alfster.

Yup, I'd have to agree, I would def sell your knives before I sell my valuable stuff. =0p

I'd return all of the unworn items with tags back to Nordstrom then put one of my properties on the market.

some how I don't think this is what you meant...

We'd probably sell my car. Don't really own anything except the house, 2 cars, 2 bikes and 4-5 surfboards. My car doesn't get used much.

Well, this is about sacrifices so yeah, that would apply.

Yeah, but I think giving up the mechanic who cleans my bike would be really cutting to the bone...

The truth is all these people work for the company, and our home is a meeting place and office. I would honestly just as soon not have everyone around doing all these things, and I do cut my own grass with a scythe.

Motorcycle, the RV, one of the cars. The video games and bikes are too hard to part with. People complain about Craigslist, but I find I get a hell of a lot more money for stuff I list there than I would paying someone 10-20% to do it for me.

One of the Monets probably. Some of the Chihuly pieces. The Type 56 Bugatti and one of the gull wing Benzs. After that I would really have to think about what would generate the most cash.

The wife and I have discussed that very issue. I've said on a few occassions that if things get tight, I may have to lay her off.
Of course, I only say this because I can out run her.

On a serious note, I have my collection of WW II military uniforms and equipment, some of my bikes and if things become desperate,
and I mean really desperate, my '72 Porsche 914.

I too, am a big fan of REI and will snatch a good deal when I see one however, I would rather give up things from Nordstrom because any item from there is a want, never a need.

If I really got into a tight spot, I'd sell the car, then my hats. But not all of them.
