2nd hand cigarette smoke

I just wanna keep this to the specific question at hand and I understand the existence of other pollution in the environment.

If someone's smoking a cigarette in my presence (consider a small room), that cigarette smoke will affect me.

If someone's finished smoking and then enters a small room that' I'm in, does his "cigarette breath" affect me ?

Unless he's exhaling smoke directly onto your face; I doubt it.

I was once in a bar where the amount of smoke actually made it hard to see in there - that gave me cigarette breath. Typical bars, etc? Nah.

One is affected by every single thing in your environment, good, bad, or indifferent.
You are affected by whether or not the air conditioning is running, the chemicals in the carpet, the dust in the vents, the mites in your eyebrows, the neutrinos from long dead stars breaking your DNA, etc.

Cigarette breath and farts both contain methane, so apples or beans for lunch should be of concern too .

I wouldn't sweat it unless you are conjoined twins and face to face, but you'd have more important issues at that point, so again ... don't sweat it.

I don't think it's as much an issue of affecting your health as offending your sense of smell.

Here's an experiment that you can try: Take a dump in their bathroom. Ask them if they think it affects their health in the next room after you finished.

Go for a walk in Manhattan where all of the smokers from the all tall buildings are smoking on the sidewalk. So much smoke I could taste it, my cloths smelled and we were outside!
Banning smoking cigarettes outside of your private residence is the next step towards a total ban on smoking and it cant come a day too early for me.

My mom lit up at my house once and I asked her to smoke outside, she never came back......ever! I figured she needed cigarettes more than a visit.

Or else you valued not inhaling cigarette smoke more than keeping ties with your mother.

I used to smoke cigarettes, but I've ridden my bike on busy streets during rush hour that made my lungs feel just as bad as if I'd smoked a pack. Routing is important for cyclists.

There is actually mounting evidence that 3rd hand cig smoke - like the kind that gets into furniture, clothing, car interiors, etc - that doesn't easily wash out - over time releases toxins which are even worse than those of 2nd hand smoke.

I would like to see a complete ban on smoking of all kinds (waiting for the hail of civil liberties objections and the move of this thread to P&R). I don't think its going to be very long before smoking in your own vehicle is banned. There's nothing worse than having your car windows open on a nice day and having someone who's hanging their cig out the window pull up next to you at a stop light. Other than roll up your window, there's nothing you can do...
