Who else has gone back to school after a break?

A long, horrible day of tech support about a month ago made me decide that I'm finally going back to finish my degree after a two year break. Its going to be tough to pay for it, as I screwed around enough my last year at school that my financial aid was pulled.

Filed an appeal with the financial aid office and was denied. Oh well, my fault. I'm going to have to take out a large private loan to fund one semester while I show that I'm serious this time.

Anyone else take an extended break from school? How hard was the transition of going from full time job to full time school?

I had a gap between undergrad and grad school. No problem, but this was getting an MBA where shuch gaps are expected and almost encouraged. Still I was (groundlessly) concerend that my math was rusty. That was a problem in only one Operations research class which very few students even thought of taking. (The instructor was a very cool guy and made allowances, but I was smart enough to check with him regarding that before enrolling in the class).

Gaps are a much bigger problem in disciplines where each step is built on hte one before or that are rapidly changing.

Working on my undergrad with fervor after an almost 20 year hiatus. I'm doing one class at a time; I'm still working full time. Biggest adjustment has been the time commitment (also have a little kid at home). The trick is working out the home life to make the commitment. It's an adjustment, but worth it--
