Vacation Possibilities?

In a couple weeks, we'll do a quick trip to Nashville. But I have five days off in mid-October, and the Missus and I are going to go somewhere alone for a few days. We originally planned to go to Victoria, BC (stay at the Empress Hotel), but I got to thinking that there might be some fun spots in Mexico or the Caribbean that would work. This would be our first time at any of these places. I'm thinking Cancun, Cozumel, Aruba, Ixtapa, etc - maybe even Hawaii. All the typical vacation spots - that's what we want. No "roughing it" or adventure travels - just relaxing.

Any suggestion/experiences?

Thanks!
Dean

We just entered wet season in the pacific northwest and that includes Victoria, wet season lasts laber day-independance day, it doesn't rain every day but it is wet often and there is no way to tell more than a couple days in advance.
It is a very nice town though with some great museums.

Dean,

Depending on your budget, there are some awesome places in the Caribbean. I've tried Caneel Bay at St. John (great), Peter Island, Little Dix Bay Resort, and Virgin Gorda. All of those were awesome, but a little pricey. Peter Island was my personal favorite, but all of those islands are simply incredible in their natural beauty and the staff at all the resorts treat you like royalty. Good luck choosing somewhere nice!

Prices to St. Croix are good this time of year and there are plenty of things to do. Come on down.

My wife is telling me Molokai and Oahu for Thanksgiving..But, we would stay at the Molokai Lodge, which specializes in Mountain bike riding on bike trails on the property. ANyone done that? Great riding..Like the idea, water and bikes..Oahu to see Polynesian Cultural center. Plus a day on Lanai. Understand biking is great there also.

My wife and I went to Cabo San Lucas for our honeymoon three years ago. What a terrific place. We are actually thinking about going back this November. The prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to travel to Mexico. The weather is basically the same year round, and there isn't threats of hurricanes.

We took an 8 day cruise to Jamaica, the Grand Caymans, and Cancun last summer. What a GREAT time that was! There is so much to do on a cruise ship that we never had time for everything.

Already saving money for another cruise in the spring!

If you go to Cancun, skip Cancun altogether and head for Isla Mujeres off the coast of Cancun. I went there and paid like 2 bucks a night to sleep in a hammock on top of a hostel. During the day, my buddy scuba dived for $15 for the day while I laid out on the beach in the cool sand in the hot sun. Eating was cheap too- like a buck or two for the best tacos and next to nothing for the beers and margaritas. We chilled real hard...
