A positive Craigslist Personals experience

So we all know how much the CL personals section blows, but I actually went on a real date as a result of it last week. I checked the post titles and saw someone just wanting to go out for a drink and converse. We met up, hit it off, and we're going on another date later this week!

This is how nice people end up in bad people's wood chippers. Be careful.

I've had some positive Craigs List experiences, too. Much better experiences than those of my friend, who feels that the pay dating sites are of better quality. She's been stalked, been tricked into a scene with a married man, and had to deal with a freaked out loser/ ex-priest.

better off using a personal matchmaker that you meet in person who also interviews all possible candidates

I'm an online dating veteran. Pay sites do filter out a lot of weirdos but good people can still be found on free sites. I think plentyoffish.com (free) is a big step above CL.

Wait, she still feels that they are superior after all of THAT?

Hehe. I've actually had my best luck with Casual Encounters. I ended up actually enjoying the company of those guys, and I'm still seeing one of them. When I tried the dating part, I just found a bunch of idiots who only wanted to get into my pants. Oh, and one tempermental lunatic. Go figure.

Something sounds backwards here... maybe the crazies look for dates but the normal people are honest and looking for a hookup?

I admit I've been on a few CL dates - I even dated someone I met on there for a few months. I never met anyone crazy or odd. Perhaps I am the crazy/odd person... Hmmm....

Yep. It is kind of backwards. And yep. I do think I've gotten along better with the Casual Encounters guys because they are straight shooters. No pun intended.

Let's not forget to check the various dating search sites, they are getting more and more specialized these days (or should I say Daze)

I was on a jury for a CL "personals" ad. The poor girl wasn't a prostitute, she was a student trying to make friends.
