I'm starting to hate Maytag

and by extension, every other product associated with Whirlpool Corp. Been trying to get an appointment for 4 days now - no one has the parts to fix a recall-related item!

What do you have that's broken? With so many of these higher-tech things such as the steam washers and dryers, the parts and machines are made in limited production runs JIT... no one stocks spare parts anymore, they have to be made first...

Most likely they ran out of parts because they didn't forsee having to order 7,845,231 of them. Good thing it's not a gas pedal. At least Maytag notified ya.

I have a dishwasher that's under a recall because it "might" burn my house down. Thing is, I called the toll free number the day the recall was announced. I was told to go to the website to make a service appointment. Went to the website, it wasn't working. Called back, was told to try the next day. Went back to the website the next day (6/8), and seemed to get an appointment set up for today between 8 & noon. Hubby stayed home from work to wait for the service tech. 11:30, not a service tech in sight, no phone call, nothing! I call back & explain - was told to give the guy another hour or so & and call back if he didn't show. I leave work at 1, drive 1 1/2 hours home, still no service guy. I call back, and am told that the appointment I made on the 8th wasn't really made because the system wasn't really working.... they gave me the number of a different local service guy. I call the local guy, and he says, aside from the fact that he's going on vacation and won't be back until the 28th, he doesn't have the part, and won't order the part until he has a larger order - Maytag might not charge for the part, but they do charge for billing, and this guy is tired of the $13 delivery charge that Maytag won't foot. So, I call Maytag back AGAIN ( go ahead - call these folks & spend 20 minutes with their idiot computer generated voice before you get a live person!!!), and after the 20 minute computer chat, I get another live person - I explain my journey thus far, and she puts me on hold while she finds another service center and determines whether they have parts. Another 25 minutes goes by, and she returns with information - no one within 100 miles has parts, but she will call me back when she locates both a service tech AND the part.

Yeah, she apologized, but DARN!!! if Maytag is not geared up to take calls & make repairs, ISSUE INSTRUCTIONS that owners should follow and advise people of delays! If their web site can't make appointments, WHY ACT LIKE IT DOES???

grumble, grumble.... last time I bought a Maytag product & had a repeated problem with it, I swore I'd never get another one.... BUT THIS TIME I MEAN IT!!!

Dang. Kind of reminds me when they had that dog food recall. There were a lot of brands listed and they said to do this and that. The link was dead.

Yeah - My new plan of action is to have them buy me a new LG or Samsung or illegal immigrant to wash my dishes. I'm giving them through noon on Monday to get back to me, and then, it's WAR!
