Unlike Hinn, Benny Hill would succeed. Plus he'd do it with scantily clad lovelies chasing him in double-time with that crazy music.

That is one smeltering plastic Jesus. They should have made him out of cement.

Wait a sec... the church was called the Solid Rock Church but their Jesus statue was made out of plastic? Cheapskates!!! They could've kicked in a few extra bucks from the weekly envelopes.

The funny thing is, the massive "Hustler Hollywood" adult store sign across the street was untouched.

No pictures, but a quote from a bystander. http://www.theawl.com/2010/06/jesus-rides-the-lightning

There's also a pretty good video of the conflagration.

That is why The God of the Catholics struck down this false image and name stealing statue. Everyone knows the real Touchdown Jesus is in South Bend.

We have a similar eyesore down here, these massive crosses right on I-10 as you enter the city from the east (My daughter says it means "Jews not welcome"). I am wondering if they too are made of plastic.

I don't care if it rains or freezes,
long as I got my plastic Jesus,
no need to fear brimstone or hell-fire,
as long as I got the almighty power,
setting on the lawn in front of church

She said that as we were driving back from the airport. She lives in NYC, and brought a friend. When she said that, I almost crashed the car I laughed so hard.
Well, she is a comedienne...

One thing missing from the web report is that insurance adjusters deemed the fire an act of God (which is typically excluded from coverage)

My guess that this is why....
