Ten year high school re-union

Crap time flies. Anyway who went to theirs, was it worth it? I never had anything in common with most of them, I don't think that changed.

Attended one HS re-union. Most folk were quite snooty. A few arrived in limos even!
Every one talked about their divorces, etc. B-o-r-i-n-g!
Have not attended one since. Even ignored my 50th HS re-union and attended a tandem rally instead . . . more fun
Just our input!!

Class of '89 here and haven't been to a single reunion. I've got no idea why I even bothered getting a Classmates.com account...

Limos? Damn. I was just going to show up in my motorcycle leathers, looking like a power ranger.

Been to both the 10 and 20 year reunion. 10 year was good because a lot of the so called popular athletic folks were big and fat. Some even lost a head of hair. A lot of them lied about their achievements and lives to the point it wasn't interesting. 20 year was last year and a bit better. People were even larger but a bit more subtle about their lives...kids and divorce and that stupid Facebook talk was all they had to offer. I spoke to a few old and familiar faces but did not fake the "let's get together for lunch" bullcrap with them. After the reunion was over so was I. I will be around for the rest as long as my life allows as I am known by many and the ones who have always been my friends are still around and not through Facebook.

I hated high school. I may go to my 10 year and let them all know as much.

I hated my HS as well. Everyone I care to know is on Facebook. When \ if I get around to their neck of the woods FB makes it easier to get together.
That and I am 1200 miles from my high school.

I was going to ride my bicycle to mine but ditched out on the whole thing completely since I got sick that weekend... Would have been fun to show up in my cycling gear and surprise everyone since I was a skinny nerd/geek in high school.

For my 25 reunion, I flew down to Florida (was living up north at the time) purchased new suit, new casual duds and everything for the weekend long event at the Don Ce Sar hotel in St. Pete Beach. Parked my car and was walking up to the front of the hotel, stopped, and turned around went back to my hotel. I asked my self why I was here. The only reason I think I left the reunion was that I hated high school and other than four or five friends did not like the other 1200 seniors. So why go and pretend?

I find no reason to go back. The people I care to keep in contact with are on Facebook and we stay in contact. The rest, meh.

My 32nd was this year, and I've never gone. HS is a closed chapter in my life. I kept in touch with those I wanted to.

I just ran into some college friends at karaoke last night. That was a really pleasant surprise.

This was in 1972. I remember it was the lsecond largest graduating clas sin Florida behind a Miami high school that year. Busing started the previous year here in FL but seniors got the privilege of staying at the school of their choice. I must add that these 1200 or so seniors were all white but the following years graduating class was the "perfect mix" (according to govt regs) of 60% & 40% mix.

Also the year I started in this school, a new form of scheduling was implemented. Instead of 6-one hour classes per day, there was now 20- twenty minute blocks of time (called "mods") that could be used as a 20 minute "short" class or an hour long "large" class or any combination. Each of the weeks five days were different than the rest. So you had to actually carry a schedule with you as it was now possible you had 100 blocks of time that were accounted for in class, or not (5 days x 20, twenty minute "mods"). Sometimes your scheduled first class was not until the afternoon or perhaps some days you had two free periods and then a 3 mod (one hour) class followed by a myriad of combination's. After a month or so you could chuck your schedule as you knew it by heart then.

I was reading a Google newspaper article from 1973 about the school. It said the principle implemented a choice for students of two "whacks" with a paddle in lieu of a suspension from minor infractions (I could not copy n paste the article). But it said that "No student out of the 135 who elected for the "whacks" instead of suspension NEVER had to return to the office for any violations". What does that say about whacking today's out of control monsters?

Didn't care enough about HS, nor do I have enough HS friends who would be reunion-going types to make me want to go to the 10-year reunion. A girl in my graduating class who worked with my mom ended up sending me pics, though. They only affirmed my decision to not go.

High school reunions are great. The ugly girls are now hot. The popular football players and cheer leaders are now fat and working at dead-end jobs. And the nerds are rich and athletic.

I skipped my tenth, went to the twentieth. It was interesting to see a few of the people, but I was largely indifferent about the majority (as I'm sure they were about me). I'll probably skip future ones.
