I don't get it? Vertical packaging isn't "right" for toothpaste?

I don't get it either.
You have something against toothpaste being packaged in something other than a tube?

If you saw crest, and didn't assume toothpaste, you just MIGHT be in the minority.

What I really don't get is the "after shave" hang-up in the description on Flickr. I guess I don't know what after shave packaging looks like.

Looks boring. Vertical packaging would literally make another product stand out. I'm surprised it hasn't been done sooner.

Old Spice:

There are marketing folks out there who's job it is to make such packaging changes apparent to the consumer. Look at what happened to Tropicana when some smart-alec tried this out:

If you brush too hard with that stuff, your gums will bleed.

Packaging is such a major part of marketing, and Proctor & Gamble is such a huge company, that we can safely assume the packaging was conceived, tested, and launched by capable people with big degrees and really nice salaries. I'm sure they're selling a veritable ****load of the stuff. It's on my bathroom counter right now for that matter.

Try that in a store when it's amongst half a million boxes of other toothpastes.

You can say the same thing about Tropicana, and look what happened to their capably-tested, new packaging.

Dummies have no bounds.

So are you a big fan of the plain brown label stuff that they used to have in the grocery stores?

Google images is totally failing me on this, but Stater Bros. used to carry the plain brown label groceries where I grew up in SoCal.

Look, say what you want, when Lance was training for his first bike race in middle school, he was using Crest, and often mentions it in interviews.

Only one question matters. Nobody cares if you like it, or I like it, or if Picasso or Lance or Pcad would approve. How much juice did they sell? Without that answer, there is no basis for comparison.
