    Death

If you knew you were dying and even knew more or less how long you had what would your fears be? What would you fear most about dying?

    My fear would be similiar.

I faced the barrel of a *** awhile back and my answer then as it was now is, I worried about my mom and how my demise would affect her. She's older now and not in the best of health. Other than that, I had no other worries.

What would happen to my children (aka-my bikes). Who could possibly love them as much as I do?

Since the day we were born, we have always been headed toward our non existence. Our demise is always inevitable, and is discussed openly amongst my family, reiterating with those involved what the emotional and psychological repercussions they will have to endure. And because of that, inner strength and spiritual understanding will be pertinent in acceptance. I have also made sure that whoever I leave behind will be financially secure for a long as I have arranged and without burden on my behalf. Other than that, I have no fears of death and believe that without a doubt I will be able to face it head on if that is the judgment call for me.

    Death is the unknown.

Not being part of memory and experience, the mind cannot grasp it no matter how many theories it creates to explain it.

An explanation is thought. Thought is memory, experience, hence it is known. The mind fears the unknown since it has no way of approaching it using thought and memory.

But fearing the unknown is due to experience/memory or going the other way, lack of. There should be no fear of the unknown.

Of death - I have no fear; no fear at all ... I feel good about my life. ...

yet I have met now someone who has filled my life with new things and anticipate even more greater things.

    so as to

Pain - I would fight it even more.

I have no fear of death as my faith tells me I am saved, but I still worry about what would happen to my beautiful wife and my two incredible boys.

My sentiments are pretty much the same as others have expressed.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned though, is my fear I'll be missing out on something. There's so many books I know I won't have time to read, films I haven't seen, places I've yet to visit and experiences I still have to try.

I don't want to die because I'm not done living yet.

    Ditto.

I'm kind of looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about. (Or not.)

I love being with my immediate family, I love everything about it. I know will not miss it 'cause I'll be dead (can't miss a thing if you no longer exsist) but if I get the chance I sure will try to make the best of my last few minutes with my loved ones I can tell you that.

Correct..that is why it is important to know the limitations of the mind and thought.

Honestly, when it comes my time, I will welcome it. Now that doesn't mean I want to die anytime soon.

I just hope I go peacefully like my father. Not screaming and crying like those other folks in his car!!!

If I die peacefully, I will be disappointed. My goal is to die from extreme speed/wreck in a car or motorcycle, or from pushing myself too hard on the bike. My fear is thinking "Oh crap, not yet."

There's a Tibetan belief that says we're dead now and will be alive later...how's that for turning the tables..

That would certainly explain some conference calls I've been on.
