Recommend me a prepaid cell phone plan with web access

So my AT&T contract with the LG dumb cell phone comes up in January. I am thinking of getting an Android smartphone so I can check my work email (Microsoft Exchange) and do web access from the road. I use around 200 cell phone minutes per month, but would use web access more.

I just don't see paying AT&T close to $ 100/month for the cell phone and data plan combined. I have been looking at various prepaid cell phone service plans. I have no problem with paying for the cell phone up front. As long as I have coverage in urban areas, I am good to go.

With all this, what does the Hive Mind of Foo recommend in terms of a reliable prepaid cell phone/plan with good Web access? Based on what I have seen so far, the Virgin Mobile approach looks close to my needs.

Or I wonder if I should stay with my current dumb phone and get an iTouch or a cheap Android tablet and just connect via WiFi. But the cheapest Virgin plan would get me 300 minutes and unlimited web for $ 25 per month.

Any suggestions welcome.

I would get an android tablet and count on wifi for net access (and skype). Get a prepaid dumb phone for when wifi not available.

That's what I would do. What I did do was get an android and renew w/ verizon for 2 more years (no android tablets at the time). We get 2 phones and data on one for ~$100/mo
