Frustration vent.

Sometimes it bothers me that people are so outright dishonest and try to discredit a truly honorable person by lying. Their personality type and past dealings with others show that they are indeed the one most likely to cast these shenanigans yet they turn it around and try to play the victim and pose that they were the ones attacked.

.......When it never happened. Because I was there.

Yet I have to be the one to defend this person.

At this point my refusal to do so will be the line that is drawn as to whether or not I will continue to do the work that believe in so dearly and fight so hard to maintain.

I'm at a crossroads here. Because I cannot lie. What's right is right and this person is wrong.

Horribly wrong.

I'm sorry but I cannot - from within my heart and morally - push this case forward.

Okay I'm done here. Just had virtually slam my hand down on my virtual oak desk.

Pins and voodoo dolls.

And be consoled by the fact that these types usually are totally sad and unhappy with their own lives and are headed for an early demise.

It's that they have to pass on that crap to others. Just look at some of the posters around here, and I know you understand.

It sounds to me like you're a shop stewart, or something similar within a union. If I'm right, just remember you don't have to lie, or bend the truth. Yes you have to represent the employee, but not to the point where you are asked to compromise your ethics / morals. That's too much to ask of a person. Present their case to management to the best of your ability using all the facts. If I'm wrong, ignore everything I just wrote. If I'm right, good luck and I know you'll stick to your ethics.

I don't think it's fair that people act like that. Those that do that should be ashamed of themselves.

Do what you think is best, stick to your ethics.

That's correct, it has nothing to do with things here, but I do thank everyone for their comments.

Let's just say a person is having me go to "court" on their behalf because I was a witness.

Sit up there in court and tell the truth as what you witnessed.

I got interviewed via phone this evening from the person on 'our side' and the comment made to me at the end was, "Your witness account and those of [person they are going against] are verbatim." My comment was "Then now you see what really happened. I'm in this job for a reason, and that is to protect the VICTIMS."

You do need to remember that all the people who witness an incident all will have different versions of what happened. I'm not defending anyone here, but saying that what you think you witnessed is not what other think they saw. In the end, it is up to the "court" to decide where the real inconsistencies lie.

One thing about liars, though, is that they often have bad memories. To lie successfully, they need to have very good memories to remember how each successive lie must fit into the previous ones... or to just shut up altogether.

As said, stick to your ethical guns... and use them to fire the pins into the voodoo doll.

That's very true, Rowan. Thanks for this reminder.

Telling the truth may hurt temporarily but will feel much better eternally Siu. And no one in this thread has told you anything that you did not already know and abide by in your heart. Thanks for being one of the good ones that is not afraid to stand up for what is right.

As someone who works at a place that does accident forensics (among other things), you are expected to tell the truth. That doesn't always overlap with the interests of your employers, but it lets you sleep at night. If your evidence is most useful to the other side then your side shouldn't be calling you as a witness, but that isn't your fault.
