What are you going to make for dinner for New Years?

I'm thinking about making a Beer Butt Chicken.

Just went out shopping for my lovely dinner alone ---- was going to do smoked pork chops, brussel sprouts sauteed with onions, garlic, ham and mushrooms, with fresh mashed potatoes and gravy with a dessert of reduced sliced apples and apple cider and brown sugar over vanilla ice cream. Oh and wine, cannot forget wine.

But today I had a very awesome porterhouse in my hand and I'm thinking of going to get a porterhouse and substitute (freeze) my smoked pork chops with the porterhouse. Dunno.

Wish couch were here though. next year.

Dogtown is lunch, porterhouse is supper. I shall "save" myself for that time and will save the $$ I would have spent on porterhouse and just go with meal numba one - the chops.

Yay!!!

Something simple -- something like grilled hot dogs, slaw, chips.

New years eve? Crab Legs, maybe some shrimp, cheese/crackers/pepperoni, chicken wings, chips n dip, chex mix (home made), cookies, maybe some salad earlier on. Maybe some little wieners in the crock pot! I could make some Chili, too...

Basically we pig out on junk/comfort food New Years Eve...And we will have all kinds of alcoholic beverages

I'm not making anything.

Wife has booked a 'private kitchen' for a group of 12. This is basically a very small restaurant that will do pretty much what you want.

Crown Rib Roast from Costco. The rest to be determined. Drinks will include an '86 Coppola Rubicon, Grumpy Frenchman (champagne and St. Germain), and some 25yo aged rum that I only bring out a couple times a year. The wife and I hate to go out on NY's eve, would rather stay at home, cook a good dinner and comfortably ring in the year. More special and cheaper at home, too.

Crabs legs, served with draw butter and/or avocado slices. Of course, washed down with some fine, fine champagne.

In Tokyo this year, so toshikoshi-soba (new years buckwheat noodles) will be de rigueur:

The longer the noodles the better, as they are supposed to symbolize long life.
Hoping that there's also a nice long ride in the cards on new years day...
