Mac App Store opinions?

Quick tip: You get a goofy error initially, so you need to sign in to the store, sign out, log out of your Mac, log back in again, then sign into the store, and it will work.

What do people think of the Mac App store? I find it a good thing:

With less tech savvy people, I can tell them to never install anything unless from there. This helps stomps out Trojan horse executing.

Since apps are tied to an account, it is simple to reinstall a new Mac.

A single update mechanism instead of each app having to update itself.

Apple prohibits any additional DRM or copy-protection.

Anyone else like or not like this?

Waaaay too many apps.

It is hard to find what you want, then evaluate the thousand options to find the most suitable. Sort of frightens you off.

have to pay to upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6, so it's not for me yet. I usually get every other upgrade. I'll probably like when 10.7 comes out.

True. The good thing about the 10.5 to 10.6 upgrade is that it is relatively cheap compared to what 10.4 to 10.5 costs. Is SL a must have? Other than to keep on the latest OS level, not really (other than for the Mac App Store.)

I downloaded Pixelmator. 90% of Photoshop's capabilities, unlimited licenses for as many computers as you want, free upgrade to version 2.0 when it releases, all for $29.00.

Can't beat that deal. Eff friggin Adobe. I hope they come up with an Illustrator killer next.
