Pcad gets the MacBook Air

The 13" with the 128GB flash memory HD. Didn't really care about a ton of memory, the most I'll do with this is surf the web and access my email on the road, maybe take it on trips with iTunes, etc.

Sold my iPad, which is a cool device, but it doesn't work with Internet forums so well for a number of reasons. The Air is kind of like an iPad with a keyboard. They really are cool.

big luck you'll have posting in here, where posts don't count.
I'm sure you've already hit 80k if posts in here counted.

I tried out macbook air and I do like it.
The only nit pick I have with it is its USB/firewire slot.
seems frail.

In the last Apple quarterly call with the financial analysts Jobs took a swipe at the other tablets, pointing out that anything less than a 10" screen is utter fail. He's right of course. I can tell you that the iPad is the right size - small enough to be highly mobile, but big enough to be useful. One thing I personally didn't like about the iPad was the screen was smaller than I prefer. To me a 7" tablet would be like a glorified smart phone - why bother?

The Android operating system works fine, but it has the same baggage as Windows - it works a little different on every different piece of hardware. That is a big advantage, but in many respects, it's a disadvantage, particularly in the consumer market. Consumers choose their devices - they don't have them foisted upon them by their corporations like the Wintel enterprise boom in the 90's and early 2000's. Mostly they just want to pick up a gizmo and have be easy to use and cool. And Apple's approach puts them in a better position to deliver that. An iPhone works like an iPad, etc. Every droid phone is slightly different.

I think the Android tablets will have a considerably harder time getting traction than the phones did, for a number of reasons. The crap I saw coming out of CES (Consumer Electronics Show) this week in Vegas made me think APPL stock is going straight to $400/share by late 2011, and maybe sooner.

1024x768 is the minimum screen size I would want on a multimedia device like the ipad.
personally, I would prefer 1280x960, which would give real 720p hi def.

now, if only ipad did flash...

Resolution doesn't matter, Netflix streamed to an iPad looks very high def, even though I don't think it quite is. High Def is rather meaningless on laptop and smaller sized screens. I do agree with you on Flash. The MacBook Air does Flash.

I have an iPod, and iPhone4, and a MacMini.

I hate Apple.

PS, I have the PC equivalent of the AirMac- a 13" Toshiba that is about 2.5 pounds. It's thin but not quite as thin as JobsAir, but I can't see where thin matters all that much.

Love my MacBook Air.
It's why I haven't bought an iPad yet.
I'm still waiting on the iPad II that runs OS X.

All MacBooks run on OS X.

DOES NOT WORK WITH MACBOOK PRO
Pros: Still sounds pretty good with only two functioning speakers.

Cons: Only 2 of the 5 speakers will work when hooked up to a MacBook Pro. Wish I would have known this ahead of time but I still don't see that information anywhere. I am not a techy type so it's my fault really for not knowing any better but thought everyone else might appreciate knowing MAC BOOK PROS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS SYSTEM.
Yeah, it's really not your fault because you're "not techy", Read:smart.

If somebody can achieve this level of dumbness in only two lifetime career BF posts, the sky is the limit.
