It's snowing tonight with these amazing, large snowflakes. It's transformed our backyard into a magical world. Tried our best to get a pic of a snowflake with our camera. Got to invest in a DSLR someday.

I don't think you need a $1000 camera to take fairly good shots. I just have a $250 cheapy digital camera (Canon PowerShot SX100 IS). To get amazing shots like Allen's and other's, you need to invest in a DSLR, have lots of talent and a good eye.

That's right. Do the best with what you got. Expensive equipment only takes you so far. You have to find a moment. I have a $100 digital camera that's 5 years old and has a broken LCD. Limitation is a great tool.

Photoshop helps.
And agreed, some of my best negatives have come off of cheepo Point and Shoots or iPhones.
Zeiss glass and accurate strobes don't hurt either though.

A flock Cedar Waxwings flew into my window yesterday; six broke their necks. It sounded like a Gatling gun going off.
