Right first time - Panama, a few days in the Highlands and a few in the Canal Zone. Hummingbirds have to be one of the hardest things to photograph.

Interesting discussion - I tried the HDR function on my camera but it didn't really work for me. Happy to see what everyone else is doing but I find plenty of scope just keeping it simple with a little cropping, brightness adjustment and sharpening.

Thanks to Clemsongirl for her contributions and encouragement, and macfred, those are great shots!

I pretty much rely on aperture and my lenses and maybe crop, lifting shadows depending on how I exposed and some clarity in post….i do like to do a polaroid transfer look for some of my color images though

nice work macfred!

style is the answer to everything
a fresh way to approach a dull or dangerous thing
to do a dull thing with style is preferable
to doing a dangerous thing without it
to do a dangerous thing with style is what i call art

bullfighting can be an art
boxing can be an art
loving can be an art
opening a can of sardines can be an art...

[this one is my favorite. but you have to close your eyes.]

i used to make the same mistakes, and sometimes i still do. you have to trust yourself with the camera in your hand, then afterwards, let it go to be what it is. 'what it isn't' just looks fake.

What if the sky is naturally colored like this? is it still horrible?

There is hardly any pp in these pictures, recently we had some amazing sunrises here in Los Angeles.

Took that from Mulholland drive right above hollywood bowl. There is a vista point there and you'll see bunch of photogs and tourists taking pictures from it.

Took this from there too.

if you click on the picture you can see the audience in Hollywood bowl in hi-res flickr page.

And this also is near Hollywood.
