Got some snaps from the Tour Down Under bike expo today, then it's a week of world class racing.

I had a better shot of the tour village except for a stupid pole in the middle so this first shot will do.
The village and expo are right in the middle of the city and the riders stay at the Hilton across the road. In past years the public could watch mechanics work on the riders bikes but this year we had to stand behind a barrier at a distance, really wanted to get close up shots of there bikes.

Me wishing this was mine.

With the temp dropping into the mid 30's (and the fire above while reading the morning paper), went to a a spring that has constant 72 degree temp that manatee come out of the colder river where they would freeze. Very popular park which was full, one out, one in and a line backed up. The official count today was 303 manatee.

This is perhaps my favorite.

Some shots from the Tour Down Under king of the mountain stage.
I've always made myself use manual camera settings but today thought using Sports mode would make it easier. Doh! most shots didn't work out but got some good one's.

Cadle Evans left the field for dead on the king of the mountain and won the stage by 18 sec. Moving from 4th overall to tour leader.

The hours leading up to the peloton coming through are spectators testing them self's riding the king of the mountain section. Most spectators ride there bikes up here.

Yep, you guessed it. Probably one of the best viewing areas for manatee that is natural with clear water.

Also, in that same area (other side of I-4) on Monday learned of a major habitat for the Florida Scrub Jay that is on the threatened specie list. Hiked the 1.5 mile "red" trail yesterday, but with temps in the mid 40's very few animals. I was surprised when I learned of it as it is a scubland preserve in the heart of Deltona.

No mountain bikes allowed...hiking path along the scubland.

Didn't see any Scrub Jays, only this Mockingbird all puffed up in the cold.

Shots from the last day of the TDU. The city was closed to cars for an 18 lap street race. Simon Gerrans was overall winner of the tour.

Awesome composition! This may not be the most action-oriented shot, but it's definitely my most favorite of the bunch! Did you keep using the Sport setting for these shots or did you switch back to manual?

Also, care to expound just a little on your camera rig?

Thanks, It was my intention to get some of the older buildings in. Adelaide has many historic churches and gothic architecture. I use a canon 650d "awesome camera" and only used the 18-55 kit lens to travel light, a little photoshopping helps too.

Forgot, manual all the way!
