This one, I went on a 2 mile hike in the native scrubland looking for the Florida Scrub Jay. No luck. Then return to the car and what is right next to my car! Don't really like the bokeh so will have to keep trying.

No Scrub Jays around here, but on today's walk we were looking for a reported Snowy Owl that never materialized.

Apologies to those of you who have had enough snow and ice already!

Thank you. Yeah shooting definitely helped and kept me busy while I was recovering. Heck even with two broken hands I still did a session. lol.

And these are from the last weekend. Went to the LA zoo. It was my first time there.

A concert I went to last night. Local church has a concert series with this time a performance by the local university symphony orchestra. As a member of the photo club, was given free reign to take photos from various areas.

No, I wasn't laying on the floor. The empty chair in the aisle in the photo below was reserved for photographers and I sat there during one of the performances. Set my lens at ultra-wide, cradled the camera in the camera bag and pushed forward. Wirelessly had it coming to my iPad where I could operate the camera.

Great being able to go to the back where could shoot towards the audience.

Little River, CA two weeks ago. Little River is a coastal town two miles south of Mendocino.

Thank you. You have some great shots as usual.

Here is a re edit of Disney hall. Initially I like that golden warmer look but more I looked at it more it didn't seem right so I made it cooler and more true to how it actually looks.

Thanks to both. That was an event that our local photo club supported (to get free meeting space, and market the club in a small town). I hadn't participated in prior events but thought I would do this one. Really enjoyable with the added benefit of gaining access to areas the general public did not have, such as the front view of the conductor with the audience in the background. As far as steady hands, I cheated. While tripods were only allowed in the balcony, down low, I could use a monopod...which came in handy with a telephoto at 1/40 sec - enough to keep the subject sharp while blurring the action. The other nice thing, when sitting in the chair on the second row, he person next to me was the father of the 1st violinist, and I specifically got a photo of her for them where they can pull it off the club website.

I was there for a wedding at Little River Inn and spent two nights at the Inn. It's the perfect place to get away from fast paced city life for a couple of days.

I've been visiting Big Sur regularly since the early sixties when I was stationed at Vandenberg AFB between Santa Maria and Lompoc. I love stopping at Nepenthe for lunch or dinner driving up or down the coast.

jb, how long/how many exposures is that? Looking to do some star trail shots at the end of the month while I'm in Palo Duro Canyon. Thanks!

And another from the recent zoo visit:

I never get use to snakes giving me the creeps even though I live with them. Bring on winter.

I didn't do anything really special except run around with my torch for a few minutes. It's one shot with the wide lens at 12mm, 20 minutes, 4.5f, 100iso. I did one shot at 15minutes 200iso and it was over exposed.

Wow, single exposure, very nicely done for a single frame. Most star trails I see are stacked multi-exposures.

A few more recent shots. With our winter just coming to an end (hopefully we had the last real blast of cold air over Sunday and Monday this week), not a lot of grand landscapes to show off other than the sunrise shots above, so here's a few details and more animals from the zoo visit:

Cuda2k, fantastic lighting and processing skills. Same with Clemsongirl.

I just can't get the same pop from my photos. First off, my camera is just an old bridge camera, a Fuji S700 so the sharpness and range quality isn't there. Second, I use Lightroom 2 (I think, haven't actually loaded it up and done anything for a long time) and can only do simple basic processing. I want to give mine some pop and even looking at tutorials, I can't get it.

Here are a handful of my favorites from my photobucket. These are a bit old in my early days of processing as well. I should redo them and see what I get.

Pop Century at Disneyworld

I think this is at Epcot

Some more from Epcot, love the angles in that golfball thing at Epcot

Downtown Disney

Presque Isle Bay, Erie PA

My backyard, why I don't live in the city and own a car, LOL

Need to redo this one in the summer and get rid of the snow. The bike trail I ride is underneath this bridge along the Allegheny River.

Single lane metal grid historic bridge that they blew up and replaced with an ultra ugly concrete monster. Such a shame, this bridge had so much character.
