Which business ...

... do you have on speed dial, or have their phone number memorized?

This evening I realized I could remember our local pizza joint phone number. Probably not a good thing

You still do business by phone? How quaint.

I have all mine bookmarked... eBay, chainreactioncycles, wiggle, groundeffect, endurolytes, pbk, torpedo7 plus a few more as the bike-related ones.

Pizza delivery and the LBS. For when I'm too lazy to actually go there in person.

You won't be able to find our local pizza place on anyone's favourite's list. You actually have to pick up the phone.

It's so bad with me that when I call Dominoes Pizza, I don't even have to talk, when they answer the phone, it's "Hi Tom, you want the usual?"

I only know the work number and the girlfriend's number. Those I use daily. Everything else I have to look it up.

I have a pizza phone number memorized, but that's only because the tune in the commercial always get stuck in my head. I ordered my first pizza on the internet three weeks ago. It had some kind of progress-o meter I could watch while they prepared it.

Ermmm.... I have most of the numbers in my phone memorized because if I ever lose my phone and need help, I can still call.

As for businesses, I have Lexus, work, other work locations, dentist, property manager, CPO, my lawyer, my other lawyer, the union, all union reps personal phones, both district manager's phone, high performance shop, regular mechanic, doctor's desk, hospital, hair cutter and high school.

You made the call.

I have a cell phone that I hardly use. I certainly doesn't have any speed-dial stuff on it. I likely use Skype more than the cell phone. We don't have a land line, either. And we don't eat takeaway food often enough that we can't ride or walk places to get it.

And like Siu said, what happens when your phone is stolen or the SIM card memory wipes out? Seen that happen before, to a boss, and was she ever pissed that her treasure trove of numbers had all disappeared.

Verizon has a free service where you can upload your saved numbers just in case you lose your phone. It updates automatically every once in a while. Having to memorize your phones numbers or write it down is like so 1990s.

Just curious. If you are stranded because your car broke down, have no phone and need to call a friend to help, how do you access the number for your friend from a borrowed phone?

Verizon means nothing to me. But Vodaphone, a company where I live, was recently taken to task for allowing on-line access to all its customers' personal details. That is, anyone was reputed to have access. A treasure trove of informaton for identity theft.

If there's any business relationship worth fostering ... it's with your favourite Pizza place.

After reading your extensive list of memorized numbers, including your lawyer(s???) , I added mine all up. I have about 20 work cell numbers memorized (I memorized them because I use a land line when phoning them from my desk), my original phone number of my parents from when I was a kid approx 38 years ago, multiple business numbers from various office locations, friend's numbers, etc. The mind is an amazing thing.

I should have quoted post 15. But yes, memory is good.

See? Not so hard, huh? Convenient and peace of mind.

And yes, my lawyer's numbers are memorized.

And if some of y'all think memorizing them is weird, I also memorized his address as well as a bunch of others. And my credit card numbers. Granted I don't really use the cards, I just memorized them in case they get lost and I need to cancel NOW. Oh and I memorized medical card numbers too. And license plates of all my cars past and present. Helps if a car gets stolen while you are out and about.

Storing numbers like that in computers and such just leaves them vulnerable for identity theft.

I just programed the local leather store number into the phone, but I don't have very many numbers memorized, other than Cellino and Barnes, but that is just from their jingle....it sticks too well in the head...
