It's soon to be..

Saint Valetine's Day

I know most people don't want the typical force fed junkola. My question is, within reason if your SO asked you what you really wanted for V-Day, what would you say?

I'd want her to take some dance lessons so I could salsa with her.

We got married 2-15-97, but only because at the time, we were both racing sailboats and neither of us had any regattas in February. We never even considered the Valentines tie in, and now every year we have to either celebrate our anniversary amidst all the crazy pricing and crap that VD brings or celebrate the WE before or after VD WE.

And to answer your question, if I could afford it, I would do it for her. What I would really love to do is go sailing for your VD anniversay thing, but not sure that will happen this year.

I'd like to take the car out for a loooong drive along the coast and spend the night in a bed and breakfast. But since I have to work that day, it ain't gonna happen. So this Saturday after work will have to do.

I love when people abbreviate V-day as "VD."

I have this thing down pat: This year, my wife will be in labor on or around V-day, so we will be distracted from the holiday. Two years ago, our first was born the day before our anniversary, so I didn't have to worry about impressing her then, either.

Yeah, that's all well and good, but it leads to a whole 'nother set of problems, y'know?

I'd have to say, a lovely dinner cooked together, followed by some coffee and snuggling on the couch watching a movie together.

My secret plan for V-day is to pretend like I'm leaving for work (I normally leave 1-1.5 hours ahead of her, she's part-time) and ride down to her office (16 miles in the other direction from my work) and kill some time on the way down so I show up at her office in time for lunch. Then, we'll go out somewhere. If all goes well, it will be our second trip to a restaurant without the little one in a year.

After that, I guess I'll ride home and relieve the babysitter and then we have a pediatrician's appointment.

My wife's due date (our first) is the 17th, so I'm in there with you and just wishing for everything to go well. Still, I should get her something, though.

Nah, I'm pretty sure he meant he's spending V-day alone in front of the computer again performing the safest form of sex (so no VD on V-day)

Last year, our first was due on V-day and came out 3 days early. I bought a dozen roses on V-day and took one to the hospital. When we all came home on the 15th, the roses at home looked worse than the one from the hospital.

(hint-> a bday present for the participant who could appreciate it, also, not that there's anything wrong w/ one for the baby either, on top of vd obligations real or perceived)

I'm an old guy, if my wife asked what I wanted I would say "chocolate". (That is something I would like and I don't want to make it difficult for here.)

Since I'm unattached, this is purely hypothetical; first wife wanted romance and sex (and got it), second wanted romantic time away from the kids, and maybe sex (it was tough, finding someone to watch the kids the 2nd time around).

Let's see... comfort food, cuddling warmly under soft covers, (sex, sure!), something exquisite to drink, and the next day off of work.

I've found that romantic getaways outperform material gifts... except maybe a ring with a pretty rock on it.
