Vintage? antique? skis, anyone know anything?

I just found this set of skis in the trash a few days ago along with a steamer chest and two pieces of pottery from the mid to late 1900s. Wondering if anyone knows anything about any of these pieces. Everything but the skis were in the trunk and found at the same location. (which I have visited almost daily for two weeks with no more luck)

Milk pitcher?

"Excelsior" horn, made in France.

Huge unknown "jug?" about 3 or four gallon! Maybe more!

Has a name on it but I can't make it out.

Sears and Roebuck "J.C. Higgans" skis.

Steamer chest with "Yale and Towne MFG Co." lock. (no key)

I doubt the skis are worth much of anything. Ask on Epicski.com - someone there will know.

My parents want their milk pitcher back.

Funny thing, I just found out the smaller jug is worth around $300.00, $400.00 + if the stopper is orig. Tell your parents they can have it back but it'll cost 'em! ;0)

I found a similiar pair on the webz, the sellers asking $249.00, hopefully thats a place to start. I think my set may be a bit cheaper than the set being offered so they may be worth a little less.

The skis are worth between $25 aqnd ~$75. They are JC Higgins, which was mass marketed through JC Penny's in the 1940's and 1950's. They are mass manufactured. Their best quality is that they are hickory wood. They have either a cross country or telemark binding on them. They are a nice set of wall hangers, and that's about it.

I have a very similar steamer trunk, a bit taller, I think. Mine has two front drawers and the lid doesn't comprise the entire top. It has an interesting floating hinge design that allows the lid to be opened 180 degrees.

Otherwise, the hardware and construction look the same. Unfortunately, I know nothing about it. We acquired it from my wife's side along with some other strange things. This includes a self-administering mental health device.
