The ship is going down...

And I ain't got a life raft.

Wonder if I can sue the executive board that made the decision to hire an outside firm, which in turn may very well cost me my job? From my perspective, it's been kinda like a messed up version of the old 'Emperor's New Clothes'...

Company is up for grabs (first $280 million wins), and I've got no idea of if or how my position will be affected. But, I'm going to stay until either I'm locked out of the building or my paycheck bounces.

Just had to vent...

Ain't no severance for me. I'm basically down near the bottom of the scrotum poll.

I guess this would be good time to get serious about drawing that disability I'm eligible for.

With you right there no1mad... I'm scheduled to be outsourced @ the end of June. Still no official letter yet. I kinda need that to ask for child support modification. It takes about 3 months to get a court date... oh well.

no1mad, if you think you're being outsourced, have you tried maximizing your current income by increasing your Federal and State tax witholding exemptions? No sense in overpaying taxes this year if you're likely to get them as a refund next year.

Yep, I'm legally blind. Have had glaucoma since my early teens. Failed two DoD physicals and have no delusions of trying to pass DoT.

Though the entire company is up for sale, my division is actually in the black, so maybe the future owner(s) will leave me alone...

Sometimes it helps to see how others are doing, it keeps you from thinking about your problems for a bit... so here's Rube' work status:

One day we got a mass email of doom saying we all gonna be outsourced and we have 3 months. Four months go by, we get another email saying they are still working out details about the outsourcing. Some weeks later, email saying MY area will not be outsourced. Months later, email, we WILL be outsourced but the contracting company will hire us all. Months later, only 90% will be hired by contractors... then 50%... then 30%... then 10%... A year goes by, they keep going back and forth with the details. Then the guy in charge of the outsourcing (The Out-sorcerer we called him) leaves the company and everybody is happy. Then another out-sorcerer is hired, outsourcing is back on track...

Enter 2011, current date of doom is June 30th. It might or might not be changed/postpone... they have changed/postponed the date more times that I can remember. But this time seems serious since we all got meetings with HR and we were informed about our severance package options.

Some jobs appeared, but they pay substantially less. Not a problem on my end, I can do with less, I've been preparing for less for over a year. But employer wont give out official pink slips yet and without that I can't get child support adjusted. I need the pink slip to show the judge that there was a justification for changing to a lower paying job. So I'm stuck and I'm not happy about it.

And that's about it... Plan ahead, make backup plan, and make a backup plan for the backup plan.
