I can't reply to PM's.
I have to scan a page to find a thread since I can't see the thread titles until the mouse is over it.
This blows.....and it has for a while!

Tell your IT weenies to get off the stick and get you a secure, up-to-date browser, even if it's a newer version of Internet Exploder. Explain to them that by keeping that insecure, buggy relic, they are putting the company at risk.

Then maybe you should listen to them and get to work surfing to all the nice sites that exploit the endless bounty of security holes in IE6

The portable firefox works well unless IT has the USB ports locked down as well, to prevent any file transfers to or from the computer. I point out that this is not unusual in healthcare, to prevent people from copying charts or installing software on the workstation.

Oh sure, IE had it's problems in the past, but it's "feeling MUCH better now!".

If I was in a dept with access to private customer oriented info, it would be the same. But we are actually encouraged to download work and do it at home. Like I don't give this place enough of my time

My stock answer is "Oh, I hope you didn't have any plans for the weekend, I'm going to Disneyland!"

I could not get into BF at all because of IE6. I made a business case for an upgrade to IE8 (which I love). Why can't you do the same? It's not that difficult to upgrade and I'm sure the company has plans to do it... about 15,000 of my company's employees are still on IE6. I got tired of waiting and complained.

Upgrade. Start with a newer version of IE or get Safari, Firefox, etc. and then upgrade from XP. Hell, if you're running XP and IE6 you won't be able to view many sites correctly these days.

Yeah I understood Modo was at work and had no authority to change the system - I don't either - I had the same problem. My company is still on Windows 2000 and was/is using IE6. I couldn't see anything including our vendors websites to order product. So I sat myself downa nd wrote ut a one page proposal as to why Pam needs IE8. I was surprised, they bought it!
