It's a Newtonian telescope (10" Celestron), the mount is an equatorial (a Dobsonian mount is the one made of two triangles on a lazy susan).

Oh God. You're that much of a dweb too?
Great sport. Only place where saying, "Hey Pop, I need to use your dope" is right and proper.

Packed away is a beautiful 6" reflector with the most amazing newtonian mount. (Heavy enough to easily take a 10" scope.

I have not had it set up in years, (I do now understand why I never dated as a teenager.)

Did you make the mirror too or just the optical tube?
I'd love to try making my own.

No scope to show, another hobby sidelined until the kids are off on their own and there is more free time. I'm in a reasonably dark spot too.

No but I did help a friend with a 6" mirror it was a lot more work than I expected, I really didn't feel I had enough skill with the grinding and polishing to attempt the 10"
But I can say it was still a lot of fun building the scope even with the pree fab mirror.

At the other end of the spectrum... This angle makes the 28-85mm zoom look huge.
