Got a text from my wife

Apparently I left for work without saying good bye or giving her a kiss.

I turned around.

In my defense, our son was reading to me last night from Gus the Friendly Ghost, an old book my wife's from her childhood. He found a leaf pressed between the pages and he wanted me to give it to her.

I set in on my sidetable and when I went in to say goodbye, it was laying there and I as I told her the story, I forgot to say goodbye or give her a kiss.

In my defense, the leaf was somewhat shiny, as was the look on her face as she recalled the book and the leaf and the thoughfulness of our son.

When I leave without saying goodbye to my wife (it has only happneded twice), I get a frantic phone call. My wife doesn't know how to text. I consider myself lucky.

Dood, seriously, refer to the 11th commandment - thou shalt not leave the house without giving the wife/SO a kiss and saying "I love you", at minimum. Drop and give me 20 Hail Chipcoms and 10 Our Couches.

+1. I get reminded before I go down the back steps to the bike-- even if I was going to come back for the kiss in a second.

You are still obligated to kiss her sleeping forehead or cheek and whisper I love you.

Wayull, last Tuesday for the first time in nearly 18 years of marriage, I failed to notice it just happened to be my Dear Wife's birthday. I didn't notice until midday when I wrote a check and realized the date. However in my defense...crap, no, I got nothin'.

I remember my wifes birthday because she was born on the 6th day of the month in 1966. All I have do is remember the correct month and sign of the beast. she is not pleased with my memory trick.

Hmm. Both my younger brother and my brother-in-law's wife were born on that day (exact same day, actually). I will have to remind them. Thanks!

After 29 years, when hubby leaves before I wake up, I count locking the front door behind him as a caring gesture!
