do you notice any patterns in the people you date?

I've noticed a few things and most of them are
colour blind, a little neurotic, a bit antisocial, impulsive, has terrible memory, doesn't like to try new things, eats only one type of food, is a horrible driver, doesn't really like being outside.....

i must be so bored that i'm making this list.

your turn

Wow, you might want to branch out. That sounds dismal.

All of the people I've dated have been men. Beyond that, they don't have a whole lot of patterns in common.

You've just described the typical American guy, except the 'terrible memory' is a misnomer, it's actually 'convenient memory'.

Everyone I've dated had an artistic talent of some sort. Looks- and ethnicity-wise, they're all over the place, but I tend to be attracted to blue-eyed brunets/brunettes more, even if I don't necessarily date them. Um...what else...oh, they've all been living and breathing.

I insist that they be women from birth. Just not into the pre or post -operative transsexual thing.

Maybe you should ask yourself why you always seem to be attracted to people like this.

They all seem so normal at first...and then....... Of course, by then, you cannot get Pandora back in the box...

A friend of mine was going through dating issues some years ago, when she came to the conclusion that maybe the relationships kept failing because she kept showing up...

...not saying it's you, but introspection is always a good thing

and yeah they are all men and they are white.

That's probably because they just made the legal driving age. It will get better with time and experience.

There is definitely a shortish, Caucasian, brunette, super-smart trend, though I have gone on a couple of nice dates recently with a Japanese girl.

maybe you should whittle away at your list one item at a time - for instance, you might change your pick-up line to "Don't you just HATE driving with people who are color-blind?" ... should weed out the color-blind, anyway.

can't speak to "dating" but the women I "love" have things in common. they are all creatively talented; have big pretty smiles; sexy (duh) and they all laugh when talking to me. I'm not a "dancer" but these women make me so happy that I want to dance with them.

I tend to go after artsy types. The plus side is that they have truly interesting ideas about life and therefore are tons of fun to hang out with and talk to; the minus side is they're all just shy of insane, are often fairly conceited, and are about as flaky as can be.

I have been dating the same person for the last 24 years so, yes, I notice patterns and similarities from one date to the next.

My sample size (n=2) is too small to draw trends. Other than both having generally dark hair and being nice people who are shorter than me (I'm 6' tall) there aren't really any similarities. I think the hair thing is coincidence rather than preference.

All the girls that I last with are size queens.

In all seriousness, I tend to do better with people who are active (dancers or athletes), who are musical, and who have twisted senses of humor.
