I will see your .84 cents and raise it .86 cents.

bluevelo 03-24-11 10:06 PM

$107 something. Already spent. Bought a Timbuktu laptop messenger bag.

Mr IGH 03-24-11 10:10 PM

Those of you with small dividends, do you buy stuff on sale or spend less than $10 there all year?

Wordbiker 03-24-11 10:16 PM

What's REI?

Dude - I know you know what REI (Recreation Equipment, Inc.) is...

This is what I bought. In red.

You have no idea what I know. That is a very good thing too.

Somedays, I wish I could remove about 60% of what I know. Thinking less isn't necessarily a bad thing..

I only try to buy things on sale. What I got my dividend on (and this is sad that I remember) is a spandex wrist wallet I got for my son as a stocking stuffer. Other than that, I probably spend a few thousand yearly.

Dropped REI like a bad habit in '08. Got tired of the elitist staff and realized that Campmor and various bike shops would do a better job of meeting my needs. I still have an REI Visa that is waiting for the first sign of an inactivity fee before I chuck it.

jsharr 03-24-11 10:27 PM

How about IRE members?

The one complaint I have as a cyclist is they only offer the 20% on their brand of bikes. I realize a frame is a frame, but the Novara frames are, for the most part, pretty generic and you can get nicer frames online, hang components and actually still beat their price if you shop smart and aggressively.

I'm so schizo when it comes to REI. I love to buy the Arcteryx (on sale), The North Face, I've got some Patagonia fleece (but I generally buy that stuff direct from Patagonia as you often get a better price).

sacrifice 03-24-11 11:19 PM

$15.00 - Which I am sure my daughter will spend for me..................

RunningPirate 03-24-11 11:23 PM

About $27...haven't figured out what I'm going to spend it on, though....probably something that cost more than $27 (which is pretty much everything at REI).

Now you know what funds the dividends.

ms.gio 03-25-11 12:23 AM

$22.70

Now, imagine if you had 20% of everything you spent at REI instead of what they grace you with as a 'dividend'. Am I getting through?

Suckers.

My dividend is $ 125, of which only about $ 15 came from REI purchases. The rest is from using the REI Visa. Since there are no fees for the Visa and I pay it off every month, it is like free money to me.

bikebuddha 03-25-11 06:38 AM

$2.40 but I was unemployed all last year.

HardyWeinberg 03-25-11 07:04 AM

A recent peak of ~$20. In the 90s I sent all my business of that sort to MEC but lately the math hasn't been working out. I like their dividend of 'shares'. It sounds cool at least I don't think it gets me anything. My $20 at least should get me a pair of smartwool socks (with tax and maybe shipping)

HandsomeRyan 03-25-11 07:05 AM

$32 and some change. I don't even remember what all I purchased? A new rear wheel but there has to be more.

Seriously considering getting the Visa.
