Hmm.. Why would he do this?

In June I met a guy from my car club and since our first meet, we've noticed we have almost the same personality type and we get along pretty darn good. We keep in contact every single day and lately have been talking on a daily basis. The only time I really see him is when we have an activity with the club.

We were supposed to be at one today but I worked and he said that he had a date. So what does it mean when at this moment he has been texting me for the past hour, WHILE he is on his date?

Why do guys do that?

Okay fine. Why does HE do this? I want guesses and assumptions.

1) He is not that interested in the girl he is on the date with.
2) He is addicted to his cell phone and/or texting and when he was not texting you he was texting 4 other people and compulsively checking his email.
3) He has a secret crush on you.

WELL. Because I'm a brat like that, plus X said that only HE would have the answer, I just called him. I figured he won't answer.

He answered.

I was laughing so hard for him answering that I couldn't talk ~ so he started to laugh and we sat there busting up. When I finally caught my breath I told him that I wanted to know what he was doing. He said "nothing". So I started busting up again. I told him he wasn't supposed to answer the phone so he said he'd hang up and I can call back again. Then we both started laughing again.

We ended up chatting and getting lost in conversation and then I realized I was really interrupting his date.

So I said I better let him go and hang up.

1. Ask him not us.

2. He wants to appear desirable to you by letting on that he "has a date". But he can't help but think about you since you're more intriguing?

3. He's the type that is intimidated (or at least less confident) in person?

3. He knows you have pistachio ice cream in the freezer?

Why would he answer his phone when he was on a date ?

Last thing I want is my phone ringing when I am otherwise engaged.

Probably for the same reasons women do it. You'd have to ask this guy if you want his specific reason(s), but here are a few possibilities.

1) He's trying to do one of those PUA moves on the woman he's on a date with, and trying to make her think she better put out tonight or he'll get it from someone else.

2) He's not really on a date, but wants you to think he is (come to think of it, if he's been texting you for a solid hour, this is likely).

3) Maybe his date stood him up or flaked on him, so he's finding some other way to fill his time.

4) He wants you warming up in the bullpen, just in case the date he's on doesn't work out.

Incidentally, I have a simple policy on people who talk on cell phones or text when I'm on a date with them. I leave and go home. They're quite free to talk to other people all night on their phone if that's what they want to do, but I don't have to sit there watching them do it.

What does that say about a guy who answers his phone while on a date? Hello, Caller ID?! And as UA said, you called him?! Sounds like you two are a match made in Crappy Etiquette Heaven™.

Do you really want to get interested in a guy who texts and talks on the phone while he's on a date? Or a guy who lies about being on a date while he's texting and talking to you?

I'm not interested in him. He's a car club member. He's not the guy that drove the LFA.

He contacts her on a daily basis. the crush/interest isn't a secret, he is obviously interested. I will assume his contacting her while he is on a date is a juvenile and poorly timed way of confirming his interest. It's like pulling hair on the playground. Men show interest in the oddest ways. I'm guilty of it myself.

What's worse when you're on a date: texting and talking on the phone or surfing BF?
