Food Sizes Shrinking or Am I Becoming A Giant?!?

So we went to CrappleBee's for my birthday dinner last night and I happened to notice that you get less food for the same or more money. Really makes me never want to go out to eat anymore.

We had a favorite local family owned Mexican restaurant that we'd go to occasionally. We always had great service and enough food that we could share a meal. And we tipped generously.

The last time we went there the portions were noticeably skimpy and when we said something about it to the waitress she just shrugged 'meh'. We have not thought about going back there since.

I am gonna say you are morphing into a giant. Have you noticed your eyes getting closer together, your forehead protruding or any semblence of a unibrow?

Grocery store items have been consistently shrinking as well ... without a price reduction. I guess they think consumers are too stupid to notice.

Actually, restaurants really need to cut back on serving portions. It's getting ridiculous. Just another cause of america's ever-expanding waist size

When the economy started going into the dumper, this is indeed what happened. One of my few food indulgences was buying a 1 lb. box of Cheez-its, the finest and most dignified of all snack crackers. The box has been shrunk to 13 oz. The price has stayed constant. The food industry is banking on us not noticing or getting used to it.

I have read a lot in the business press lately about how this is being done to try and hold food prices down. But a lot of vendors and restaurants are doing both: raising prices and shrinking portion or package size.

Your ravenous appetite has caused you to become hugified. Thus, I think it is the latter and not the former that is happening.

A 24 pack of toilet paper used to last our family of four a month.

Last month we ran out almost a week early. When I went shopping this month I check, our regular brand had less square feet than all the others. switched brands problem solved.

You are just getting older--like when you go visit your old elementary school and the ceilings and urinals seems much lower than you remember.

I have mixed feelings about it. I mean it's nice when I stop eating sooner (I have this problem where I don't stop eating as long as there's food in front of me - gee, thanks Mom and elementary school teachers), but on the other hand, I hate paying good money and leaving still hungry or feeling ripped off. A lot of the time I think what's skimped on first is the sides/condiments as I've gone lately to some places and the guac/sour cream were tiny spoonfuls just so they could meet the menu description of having it. That sort of thing just gets my goat. If quac is out of season or just too expensive, just don't put it on the menu, don't pull this "lets put a little green smear on the plate so when they complain we'll say there was some" b.s.

They're just helping you save room for desert.
We just went there on the third and did the two for twenty deal. Not too shabby for twenty bucks plus drinks.

Maybe go back to what the sizes used to be? I remember when the quarter pounder was the large burger.

For shrinking sizes check out http://www.mouseprint.org/
