Awkward product design, and a missed advertising opportunity

The company I work for makes exercise equipment; treadmills, elliptical machines, etc. Anyhow, a big industry push is to have a built-in cooling fan, so we've included it in the design on our newer stuff. However, the company HQ and factory are in SE Asia where the average user height is 5" shorter than in the USA. The fan on our newest treadmill is located under the main handlebar center, which for shorter users is great to aim the louvres from upper to mid chest. For most users here that fan is going to be a great belly chiller.
I'm 6'6" and think that advertising it as the "nad cooler" option is an overlooked marketing opportunity.

Nobody made specific mention of which hair when designing the 'ocean breeze blowing through your hair' feature.

You would think that the US office would have told them about the height difference... unless they were marketing it as fitness equipment for short people.

Do you have any "Thigh-Master" sales posters of Suzanne Somers from the early 80's?

I assume these cross-cultural* type oversights are extremely common among product designers as well as the marketing departments themselves?

*wrong word, but you get the idea.
