Back to School

Anyone else go back to school full time in their early 30's? How'd you like it?

hehe - I work in a 2 yr community college (great academics at a lesser price - with an excellent affiliation with many 4 year universities for a 2+2 program) and I see many older students!!! Many are on their second or third career (due to job availability, etc). 30's? I see 40 and 50 yr olds (full time)!!!

Good for you!!

I was 33 when I first thought about going to college. I went into a hard science program (geology). I kept getting tons of financial aid free money (grants and scholarships) so I stretched my 4 yr degree out to 7 yrs. Plenty of students my age and older in many of my classes. Loved it. Graduated in 2009 with a BS and a minor.

Yeah, I hear a lot of people are switching careers these days. I never much cared for the word, myself. Work is work...career sounds more like a prison sentence.

Pops...hah. I was thinking of wearing the baseball cap backwards and getting a t-shirt with a giant pot leaf on it so I can blend in.

I'll have a nice tiny studio apartment. It has a small fridge, small stove, small dishwasher. I'm thinking I'll throw an air mattress on the floor and fill the rest of the apartment with bicycles. I'll probably have a folding camping chair or two for furniture. I think it'll be fun, although dating is probably going to be difficult, given that it's a college town and there's not much else there besides the college. The young girls don't want old dudes and the older women don't want dudes with studio apartments filled with bicycles. Ah, well =)
