Trying to not fall asleep.

skijor 11-22-13 10:41 PM

Got uh code ib by doze.

Time to drink, eat, and sleep it to death before the holiday.

BenzFanatic 11-22-13 11:25 PM

Just spent about an hour wearing out my arm scrubbing the inside of the dryer... I let a pen through the wash apparently. I tried every cleaning product under the sun, and it's better, but not completely clean. Oh well, if that long of scrubbing didn't get it off, a load of clothes won't.

bigbenaugust 11-23-13 04:58 PM

Working on Saturday. Of course, it was supposed to be 1-4ish and it's become 12:45-until it's done, but being the on-call guy and the app server guy simultaneously has its perks I guess.

Is that the recipe for recovering from an epic case of California?

just finished a mug of coffee. About to go make some pancakes and sausage for breakfast.
Going to plant an apple tree and some blue berry bushes after lunch time, when it's supposed to warm up to the 40's.
Also, trying to decide if I'm going to the gym today, or not. I'm leaning towards not.

Run some old towels or rags through it first just to make sure.

Fingernail polish remover.

Gone.

Recently got a pretty good deal on the highly praised Schmidt Edelux headlight because of the recently released Edelux II. I spent the day fabricating a pretty clever (if I do say so myself) mounting bracket for it, running the wires, etc. I finally got everything working and secure and took it for a short night time loop down the trail near my apartment, and...I wasn't particularly impressed. I think the B&M Lumotec IQ Cyo R may be brighter, and it definitely has a better standlight. The Edelux becomes noticeably feeble after just a few seconds, whereas the Cyo remains very visible for at least a couple of minutes after the wheel stops moving. However, I am pretty proud of my mounting bracket, which is one of those things that's supposed to be temporary but will most likely become permanent because I'll be too lazy to fabricate something prettier.

Are you sure? I'd have to change out something that hideous as soon as possible.

Lamplight 11-24-13 10:33 PM

I didn't think it was terribly hideous myself, but it's the best I could do without a workshop or decent tools. It doesn't really matter what it looks like anyway, because when the handlebar bag is on it's almost impossible to see without crouching down right beside the bike.

I was teasing you. Sheesh.

My boss is leaving in t minus 22 minutes which means I'll be getting 27 thousand emails until then.

Yay

ModoVincere 11-25-13 08:30 AM

Morning.
sipping coffee, listening to John Denver songs, and waiting for a file to be created by someone who probably isn't even working today. Guess the reports will be short some data this week.

bigbenaugust 11-25-13 08:46 AM

Cleaning up after all of the weekend's work.
The other group across the hall really pulled victory from the jaws of defeat and decided to go-live with the new system at 00:30 this morning after deciding to roll back at 22:30.

JonnyHK 11-25-13 10:58 PM

Making mistakes is what I'm up to.

There has to be a word for this...The description of the act or the feeling upon the realisation that you've just done something wrong in the following "Murphy's Law" scenario:

A part can be installed one of two ways. Only one way is correct, but the incorrect way fits and is hard to notice. You have just installed a bunch of these the wrong way and now have to go back and re-do it all.

In this case, however, it painfully involves epoxy...

Yay

Our security architect quietly chided me long ago after his staff got a bunch of emails from "satan@hell.org" and remembering that I was one of the few people who could converse with sendmail interactively. One of them calls me "the evil one" to this day.

 Awesome.

ModoVincere 11-27-13 07:19 AM

I'm rotting away under flourescent tube lighting, sipping a soda, and cruising the net while running a report.
About to go load up on the biggest coffee they sell in the crapeteria downstairs.

The day before a work holiday always seems the longest. No one is here and there's not a whole lot to do.

Same here. I didn't even change my clothes; I'm working in running shorts and a sweatshirt.

I'm doing the department Christmas cards. The messages get briefer as I go. If your last name begins with an A through H, you get a nice personal message. After that it peters out so the Ws get a Happy Holidays!

Ok, my last iPad had a cracked screen, such is the fate of all Apple mobile devices.
Now that I have a new one, every time I get a hair on it I freak out. Between my Irish Setter's and my own shedding, checking the screen for cracks happens more often than I like.

mikeybikes 12-03-13 07:13 AM

Doing some early morning windows updates on servers. This is a pain in my ass. Especially when one of the servers IS the phone system. We need more redundancy.

Based on the fog this morning....Who moved the ATL to Seattle?
