I built my first fly rod.
I used a bamboo blank and it is an eight foot 4 weight.

Stopped near the end of today's ride for some frozen yogurt. I walked in wearing bibs, jersey, road shoes, helmet & sunglasses. The girl behind the register asked, "Are you riding your bike?"

trafficcasauras 08-26-11 11:42 PM

in love with the meanest girl at work.

Just arrived home (it's 11.30pm) after leaving a friends birthday dinner at a restaurant.

We left before the main course was served. WTF?

Some time about midnight an Angus rib eye steak will be served to my empty seat.

Spoke with my partner this morning and he said that I have graduated... there is not much else he feels he can teach me in regard to design and frame building and wants me to fire up my own shop here, which has been the plan all along.

Will have to see how much change I have in the couch...

:D

We will continue the rest of our business relationship and fire ideas back and forth but will work in different spaces which is understandable since the frame shop is small and was really designed for one person to work in.

In 30 years Arvon has never taken an apprentice and has always worked alone so I feel pretty honoured to have been the one person he decided was worthy to teach over the past several years.

Did you say "No, why do you ask?"

oooooooooooooo - sunburn!

Sitting with an icepack on...

Put a ton of sunscreen on, but while I was standing. When I sat down my shorts rode up and exposed more of my thighs. Then I spent 7 hours driving a safety boat, only realising I needed more sunscreen on my legs about two hours in. Bugger. Everything else is fine (big hat, long sleeve shirt etc).

Bright pink on the top of my thighs for about 3 inches (basically the gap between shorts standing/sitting but looks like the 3 inches above my normal cycling tan.

Ouch, Johnny! I did that to the tops of my feet a couple of summers ago. It's painful. Take some anti-inflammatory, too.

Getting ready to go in search of wenches and kilts. Possibly a caber or two, also. :p

Looking forward to a drive over the divide to visit my daughter at college. With new sneakers on the truck, it should be a joy.

ModoVincere 08-28-11 09:02 AM

Taking it easy today.

Taerom 08-28-11 11:03 AM

^ Isn't that what you do every day?

mikeybikes 08-28-11 11:38 AM

Think I might put up some peg board and hooks to hang tools in the garage.

You will most definitely need to post pics.

Aloe vera can help with the pain, too.

Put that on last night.

Woke up OK. Not too sore and the colour has really toned down.

Flew to NC Friday so Wolfie and I could do the Warrior Dash race (it was amazingly tough and filthy - Carolina mud - our last obstcle was a huge mud pit - is like sticky red pudding!) and when I went to the airport yesterday morning - cancelled. wth - my flight was from NC to Cleveland to Rochester Ny - where Mom said it was a "little windy".

And I'm stuck here till Tuesday.

So Wolfie went to work today and it looks like I'm going to do some walking and exploring around where she lives as part of my continued vacation.

That's what I did this morning. I called it refueling from my bike camping trip over the weekend. :D

mikeybikes 08-29-11 10:27 AM

The wife insists I actually have a nutritious breakfast instead of just ice cream.

My wife moved out a few days ago. :P

mikeybikes 08-29-11 12:38 PM

I put up with the insistence on eating healthy, as I'd truly be lost without her. It's probably the whole newly wed bliss or something as we did just get married 29 days ago.

____asdfghjkl 08-29-11 01:46 PM

I think i'm gonna go to REI
