I've really been doing well, just, like I said, taking care of a parent and doing all that's required of that, consumes a lot of time. Trying to get the cycling thing going well enough again to do AoMM in May. Otherwise, just working & riding.

My son is in the Army - stationed at Hunter Army Airfield (Savannah), turned 21 on Tuesday; I'm a grandma x2 now.

Hey, wolfpack! Fancy seeing you around here Glad to hear you're well!

I'm entering hour 11 of a 13 hour Saturday shift at work. This is the approximate state of my brain right now:

Thanks - I think I'm way to young to be a grandma!

Listening to all the birdies sing after the heavy rains we had last night/early this morning. Off to the vet to pick up some special thyroid food for my kitty, then a 2.5-3hr ride. Afternoon is wide open....

Spent a few hours cleaning up the front of the townhouse complex, as well as my flowers. Planted another 50 dutch iris (already sprouted) as well as some iffy 6 orange hybrid lily's --- and I walked back in and cleaned and sat in my front chair ... and heard water rushing. WTF. It was a drunk perv from a party down the street standing in my garden by my front step pissing on everything. Got up and said basically WTF are you doing and he said.

"I have the right to piss anywhere I want too" and with that he locked up the johnston back in his pants and stumbled out of my garden trailing after his fugly drunk friend.

Ugh. Nothing like living in the city with a main bar sector that is not far down the street, as well as 1 block away - with parties going on all over the place here (lots of college here as well).

Ugh, took a pail of water to wash off the pee and storm back inside. Pig. It was 2 in the afternoon when he decided he could pee anywhere he wanted too. I'm sure he and his buddy had a safe ride home. grr

In the field next to my house, the cyclists pee in the daytime and the drunks and homeless pee at night.

My buddy and I were having coffee this morning and there was a guy with a full computer at the next table, 20" + monitor and all. He turned the monitor towardme and said, "do you think this is murder?" and showed a website with dead fetuses on it. What a freak. My wife said I should have complained to the employees.

I agree with your wife. There's a place for protests like that, but a food establishment isn't it. When he showed you the website, you should have shrieked in horror and flung your full cup of coffee on his monitor.

I wish I was a little quicker and thought of that. The guy caught me offguard; it took me a minute to realize what the pictures were of.

Hopefully he didn't get the chance to show it to too many other people before he got booted out the door.

Hai thar. Studying for a test in Forensics - but took some pictures because I just had too.

Ming vs. Bug (bug won btw - as I'm still staring at it on the ceiling)

Darn thing must have moved

Where is it?

She doesn't know it, but bug is right overhead on the ceiling

So I just went to Fleming's, some fancy restaurant, to get a gift card. Basically got looked at like I was a hobo and was ignored for a few minutes because I was wearing street clothes until he asked how much I wanted to put on the gift card. Then everything changed, bet he didn't see that coming.

Spending the weekend with family... mom celebrated her 83'rd birthday yesterday so we had a house full and when everything settled down we got to looking at old pictures.

Funny how one can measure time... this little kitten was named Squeak and was adopted by Rose... who used to carry her around in her mouth.

Lifelong friends...

Rose passed away last year and I think Squeak still looks for her in the backyard when she goes outside... I do too.

Just came back from the hospital... my mom was rushed in tonight as she is experiencing kidney failure (sudden) which the doctor said was a secondary issue to something else happening in her abdomen... she is stable and alert and a cat scan has been scheduled as x-rays and ultra sounds showed nothing. Her pacemaker also quit but her pulse has been normal all day... she has vitals that many people could only hope for at half her age.

She was bouncing around yesterday and I honestly could not keep up with her when we were out walking but it is not hard to beat my in a foot race these days... sister said she has not seen her so perky in a long time.

Tonight we are taking turns at the hospital... and my brother will be flying in tomorrow from the coast... he had planned to come out in a few weeks and bumped up his trip.

It is just one of those seasons in one's life you never want to experience... doctor said she could not believe my mom was 83... but she is.

She said she spent the day being poked and prodded and no-one would let her take a nap... and she was as feisty as ever.

It is going to be a long night.

Home... for now.

Will try and get a little sleep before I head back to the hospital... my mom's condition was relatively stable today although it is still not looking very good and they are giving her 24 - 48 hours to respond to treatments for pancreatis, which is a very serious condition, and what they think is the cause the secondary renal failure which is also very serious.

Your odds get reduced a lot when you are 83.

My mom has been pretty clear for some time that in such an event, that no heroic measures were to be taken. She said she would accept surgery or a few days in ICU if the chances of recovery were good and if there was no treatment possible, that they do not try to artificially extend her life.

She is at peace with this.

Held it together pretty well until my aunt and I went in to visit and she started crying... she is a very youthful 82 and she and my mom are as close as any two people can be and have been best friends through their entire lives, and they have never lived more than 80 miles from each other.
