IE help--can't save pics!

This ones got me stumped. I can now ONLY save pics as .bmp's which, well sucks because I steal a lot of photos from friends' photo albums and such. I can download as a .bmp and convert but its such a pain. Any ideas?

Its beyond restart... this seems to be a permanent thing. The only thing I can think of its an IE update to prevent image theft?

Try clearing your cache. You might have some errors in there that's not causing images to cache correctly in jpeg.

I assume you mean like the hourglass just sits there and doesn't move, and you're trying to figure out what's going on, then you get impatient and do a Control-Alt-Delete to bring up your Task Manager to close the program from there?

If you answered yes, then it means you haven't cleared out those files in a LONG time. You're going to have to sit there and wait for your computer to clear it out. Otherwise, your problem will never be solved.

Perhaps you have been hit by this IE Vulnerability. Have you checked for updates for Windows and IE?

It's not a vulnerability, it just that IE has a weird way to caching files and if there's something corrupt in the index or in the temporary files folder, like a bad file in there, then it doesn't know how to decipher a file and resorts to saving it as the format that it's displayed, not stored, which I guess is a *.bmp.
At least that's my reason, clearing out the cache usually helps.
Seeley, you might wanna give it like 10-15 min when you choose to clear it, check the hard drive light for activity if you have a lot of pr0n stored in your temporary internet files folder. It will eventually all clear up.

Since I started using these browsers, all crashes and security issues have ceased. Since Microsoft's approach to development appears to be damage control rather than innovation, I don't miss using IE at all. If I could find a way to uninstall it without tempting woe I'd do it in a heartbeat.

go into your settings and change your temp internet folder size to like 50-100MB.. anything over that and stuff gets too cluttered too quickly.

Wohoo..glad it worked seely...

as for firefox...just installed today (I have used many variations inthe past and always hated them) and lo and behold...still hate the interface. It is slower to load (not AS bad as past version, slow to cache (again improved but still noticeable) and holy smokes (the irony) it crashed my computer. Who do we blame for this?

i'm not a big fan of how firefox deals with links vs tabbing... i'm a SlimBrowser person myself, which is basically an add on for IE... but works like a charm.
