OK. That's a huge amount of work for lots of useless things. Worse than I thought.

Wrong Vancouver. The worst I've seen around here is Great Blue Herons and some Nutria.

In the early '70's my brother owned a bike we called "Tin Lizzy". It was the designated "jump bike". There were a few different spots we would ride to and then take turns riding it off jumps. Nobody died...I don't even recall any injuries.

In the mid-late 80s I had a "dirt bike" style bicycle that weighed a ton. We lived in the woods and had a deep (well maybe 6-8 feet) ditch next to our driveway that we'd rake our leaves into and let them sort of compost. I used to love riding as fast as I could pedal and then jumping into the ditch and pushing the bike away from me so that I'd land in the pile of leaves. Well, I did until my parents started being less careful about not racking up larger sticks and dumping them in the ditch too. Didn't get hurt on one, but a couple of awkward landings made me stop. No helmet, no pads no nothing. Then, I guess that makes sense given that at first I didn't learn how to stop the bike either, so I'd get it going as fast as I could and then put my feet on the top tube, and jump off aiming for a soft looking patch of grass and letting the bike take care of itself. A to be young again.

You kids.

We could have fights on the playground without cops and stuff.

Sure, but also back then no one was carrying guns of knives and if a teacher turned up to stop the fight then it would stop.

Probably because we could fight without it becoming a big deal. Nowadays it's a preemptive strike.

Was looking for a friend and his truck who was behind us but didn't show up at the top of the mountain.

It's a ski run (on Copper Mt, it seems). Not many people drive on those.

What makes you think it's a ski run? Not much snow in Livermore, CA. It's at an OHV park called Frank Raines.
Were you using the Toyota?
