    "No time to say, 'Hello,'...."

I'm outta here (except for occasional lurking, maybe). I can no longer bear the inanity of the vast majority of postings.

AAAAAH, just scale it back, like i did

When I first joined the forum I tried to provide the definitive answer to EVERY thread, almost to the point
where I was tempted to reference my posts

Then, when I realised it was mostly pointless, I just decided to have fun, and help the newbies.
(oh, how magnanimous of me )

Actually, I hate to say this, but http://www.cyclingforums.com can occasionally be a little bit more highbrow -- not that I'm any judge. There seems to be a few more people over there that are prepared to post longer, more considered messages.

Perhaps "Maj." doesn't stand for "Major" like in the military?

Perhaps "Major Domo" - "a head steward?"

Anyway, I will miss him (who was that masked man, anyway?)

he'll be back. bikeforums.net has its own gravitational pull. you can get away from it for only a little while before it sucks you back in again.

Remember that time Merton said he'll stay away. I think that lasted a good 7 hours.

    Whatever.

I've found that people who post "I'm outta here" on forums are calling for attention, or they're seeing how well loved they are. If you're going to leave a forum, leave. When I left the Dodge Intrepid forums, I PM'd the two people I thought would care and told them why, and then I stopped visiting it. When my brother left the GSX-R forums, he pissed off everyone so much that they not only stripped him of his moderator status, they also banned him.

So just go. If people care about where you went, they'll get ahold of you. The rest of us don't care.

Well, I remember you giving some good advice on a range of topics.
I'd say take a sabattical for a couple of weeks, then see if your interest has returned.
Otherwise, see you on the road (as you pass me).

I thought that's what made Bikeforums so interesting...that, and the way ghosts of old cycling heros and movie characters are attracted here...

Suggestion - we inaners should start all the inane threads we write with a big capital "I" (for inane), so that the Major can skip reading the post!

    Oops, too late.

This threads title should have been "I: No time to say, 'Hello,'...."

    Talk about an inane post!

Or he could hover his mouse over the thread title so the first few lines of the thread appear and he can decide if it's worth clicking on or not. Or maybe I'm just smart that way.
