Anybody Doing Anything For 11/11/2011 at 11:11 am or pm?

Like...say a magic incantation to open a portal to another dimension? Stand an egg on its skinny end? Conceive a star baby?

(or thank a Veteran)

My Great Grandfather came over from Italy just in time to get drafted and sent right back, although to France or Belgium (worse weather). He got mustard gassed but survived and I got to hang out w/ him and hear stories into my high school years.

My coworker just told me that it was 100 years ago that it was last 11/11/11 11:11:11....

I replied, and guess what! It will be 100 years before it ever happens again!

I was on the way to the State Capitol pushing a disabled Vet in her wheelchair as a part of the Occupy Little Rock march.

One Vet pointed out that none of the banks we passed had their flags at half-staff in observance of Veteran's Day as they should.

Standing tall, being counted and not being a corporate puppet certainly is. You're just jealous.

Whats the big deal? If you were talking 11-11-1111 at 11:11 AM, now there is something to write home about. But 2011? Sheez, come on.

I don't have to. Just the fact that you chose to attack me for my actions instead of going on and reading another thread says I struck a nerve.

Apparently you categorize people who have risked their lives for our country as whiners. Veterans were leading the march. Instead, I think it is that they know wrong when they see it and are willing to fight injustice.

Or do you think what is happening in the world is just and that people should just HTFU and shut up. Since the odds are that you or the people you know have suffered because of what has been happening in the past few decades; you are on our side whether you realize it or not. You are part of the 99% whose lives are being affected aversely.

You might want to go have a talk with these people. Get to know them personally; talk with them and see if you maintain your prejudice.

11:11:11 passed me by completely as I was busy editing documents and didn't notice the time. It would have been nice to observe a minute of silence for those who have served our country.

I have the utmost respect for those who served our country through good times and bad. Putting your life on the line for something is a feat I've never accomplished. I am grateful for those who did.

On 11/11/11, at 11:11 am, my computer ran its Power On Self Test.
Passed, so it claims.

I made an earlier reply concerning 11-11-2011 as not being really significant. I was referring to the day and not to the Day of Remembrance that is Veterans Day, big difference there.

By the way, I spent some time with my dad's memory and mementos from his 3rd Armored Division Days. Seems that his life was nothing but obstacles and failures but he considered his time in the US Army some of his best days. When he died in 2004, the only possessions he had of value were his Honorable Discharge papers, his medals, and photos of his time at Ft. Knox and Korea.

Thanks Dad.

But you win top honors for making a reply closest to 11:11:11 11:11.
