Home Plumbing Wacka Wacka

It seems wacka wackas follow me this week. The bathroom sink on the new home is making loud wacka wackas like a machine gun... the video really doesn't make it justice, it sounds 10 times louder...

.be
Rube' and Girl troubleshoot plumbing wacka

Any idea what the heck can cause home plumbing to sound like that? I tried leaving it open for an hour but noise never went away.

Check the water pump that you installed from your spare car parts and you may need wider condensation coils.

You have a loose pipe and some erratic water pressure... can usually be solved by tracing the pipes and finding out where it is resonating which is a good idea as a vibrating pipe can also fatigue and break.

This is why they sell pipe strapping.

Who cares what it is? Call the landlord and tell them. Don't spend any money or time on this. They need to come fix that. It's their problem, not yours.

It's called water hammer. Caused by shock waves traveling back and forward in the water. Shocks are generated by an abrupt change, e.g. turn-on or turn-off. Intensity of hammer is proportional to the "suddenness" of the change. Fast turn-on and higher velocity in pipe = bigger chance of hammer initiation. To fix this I suggest the following:- [1] turn taps on or off gently (slowly), [2] lower the velocity in the pipe by replacing with larger diameters, [3] install a PRV (pressure reduction valve), [4] check washer in faucet is not ricocheting around.

It's a rental property grade faucet(they suck).
No landlord is goint to install a new Moen or even Delta for fear the next tennant will trash it.It's cheaper to keep putting in 19.95 "no name" crap from Home Dopey or Lowedown with each new rental guest.

Any chance you can mix that water valve knock with some Carmin Maranda music in the background? Now that would be some classic south Florida music

Then you go over and fix it for him,I'm too far north.

You're just stressed-out because coach Toterella left your team high and dry.

My bad.

I suggest shoving firecrackers in your faucet and lighting them off. That might fix it.

Sensible! (And yes, I modified his quote for the humor)

So tell me.
How will you avoid a place like that in your future? Those people have safety in numbers when the vultures start circling overhead.
