Non smoking apartment

So, apparently, my non-smoking apartment has become a smoking apartment, where my ****** roomate allows people who hate me smoke in my very own abode. I really hate this situation. Shame on me for thinking someone would be respectful to me.

Kill them. If they objected to being killed, they wouldn't be smoking anyway, right?

This was the same roommate in the "cyclists are wussies" thread, right? If I were you I'd be thinking about moving out as soon as possible. And this is a 169% serious suggestion.

Throw his stuff out the door and change the lock when he's not home. He's clearly broken or allowed to be broken a covenant.

Smite him.

Is your apartment a part of the college?

If so, there should be college rules on this topic, I would hope!

If not, throw the ******* out.

No, my apartment is not a part of the college. I signed a lease with him before I realized how big of a dick he really is, and how much he lies and how shady he can be. But, I already signed a lease for an apartment next year, I will be living ALONE.

Ouch a lease...dang. I am not sure how I would deal with it. Have you actually approached him about this?

Step 1- piss in the coffe pot
step 2- pour it out
step 3- buy your coffee at wawa after that.
step 4- think of other ways to make the rest of your lease period interesting.

Place a couple of very full ashtrays in his bed. That should stop it.

Clean his ashtrays... every day, rightbefore he comes home. Only leave them wet. First time he lay a ciggy in it... psssst It goes out.

Nah, I like my first idea better. Piss in the ashtrays.

Well, he doesn't smoke, but my former friend/his current friend (very awkward situation) does, and while I was out, he apparently came over and lit up. My apartment still reeks like it.

Have you talked to your roommate about it one on one? If not, maybe a sit down conversation is in order.

Come up with some alternatives. If you have a balcony, the smoker should limit smoking to the balcony. If you don't, try limiting the smoker to the stairwell, or tell the smoker they need to take it outside.

If that can't work, I'd come home when the smoker was in the apartment and confront the smoker directly. Tell them HE doesn't live here, but YOU do, and that it's not tolerated, so if they expect to be a continued visitor, he needs to respect your rules that you and your roommate agreed to when you both moved into the apartment.

Is your unit non-smoking based on the lease/management company? If so, you might have more issues than just this; you'll have to pay a huge deposit to rid the place of the smell of smoke once you move out.

I'm wondering if you could kick him out with the management company's assistance for the smoking... if you can swing the whole place yourself.

If the lease is in your name, kick him the f--k out.

If the lease is in your name, it is your abode, and anyone who dwells within has to behave within your basic rules...if not, then to hell with them.

It is a mutual lease. I approached him about it yesterday, and he told me that his friend lit up while he was in his room or something. Don't know if it's true or not, but whatever. I told him that it takes one disrespectful a-hole to smoke in someones apartment that obviously is a non-smoking apartment, he just kind of looked at me and walked away. His "friend" was at one time my "friend", but we had a falling out and do not see eye to eye. The ***** won't even look at me if he sees me.

Then perhaps you should approach the ex friend. Tell him about the non-smoking agreement you had with your roommate (regardless of whether the ex knows it or not) and tell him that you expect him to live by the rules, or from now on, the roommate goes to HIS place if they want to socialize. If the roommate won't step in, it's obvious you'll have to. Suck it up and deal with the ex on your own, no matter how uncomfortable it feels.

Or... kill the men, sell the women and children into slavery.

(sorry, been studying the Peloppenesian Wars; that was Athens' answer to this kind of stuff)
