Paper beats rock, ring beats finger....

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor.../marine_s_ring

Just dumb and hick. And he didn't even get to keep the ring anyway! What, like the wife won't make the exception?

Hey, that's romantic! It's ok that they lost the ring, he can't wear it anymore anyway...

wedding ring = christian crucifix = usa flag = any other symbol

at least this kid knew what the symbol meant to him. Still, I'd have let them cut the ring... probably why I'm divorced.

This sounds typical of a delusional 19 year old who is in love. I would imagine that his wife wouldn't ***** about him cutting his wedding ring if it meant saving his finger. I know, it symbolizes the love and it shouldn't be cut, blah blah blah, but come ON.

Go easy on the lad, it'd be tough to grow up with a name like "David Battle". Seems like your only career path would be the military. The local Salvation Army is headed by a Major Steven Justice, by the way.

I told my wife when we got married that the only time I would wear the ring was for the ceremony. Haven't worn it since. My reason was a class ring almost cost me a finger when I was younger. The damn things are dangerous.

I know I read something in the last few days where a soccer (or football) player in Europe ripped off his finger when he was celebrating the winning goal he kicked in. He jumped on a fence and was hooping and hollering, and when he jumped down, he said he noticed lots of blood and lots of pain... the ring caught in the fence when he jumped down and he lost his finger. They weren't able to find the finger, so he couldn't get it reattached either.

Might be a good policy not to wear the wedding ring after all.

I don't know, but somehow, he said he jumped down and got his finger caught on the gate in the process of getting from the gate to the ground and was jumping up and down before he suddenly realized the pain and the blood. He didn't seem upset at all...

Anyone who's ever worked with rope would tell you, those things are suicide. If anything catches it, it'll rip the meat off your finger.

You know perhaps Pam and Tommy Lee had it right with the ring tattoos. (I know the marriage didn't work out) You can't catch it on anything, and you can't lose it.

I can tell you how I almost lost my finger because of a ring. Similar to the soccer player. Only I was going down some stairs at school. Just fooling around, we would sometimes swing off the landing above to the landing below. My ring caught some obstruction when I let go to drop to the lower floor. With all my weight dangling from the ring, it dug in and started to seperate my finger from my hand. Lucky for me, the obstruction gave before my finger did. It was a stupid thing to do, but I lucked out. One of the lessons I only had to learn once.

My buddy lost his wedding ring just weeks after he was married while river tubing. Yes it was dumb to wear his ring river tubing. But he got a new ring and still has his wife...and finger!

don't encourage him, Koffee!........I think he was referring to what we in Oz would call " a date with Mrs Palmer & her 5 daughters"!.......& if that's enough to get me in trouble....it was Rowan!
