    ski season

OK, I know it has nothing to do with cycling, but the snow has arrived in this part of the world, and I got out on x-c skis for the first time since last winter. Perfect snow, expecially once you got out of the wind, so there's something good about this part of the year after all. It coincided with taking my bike down to the basement for its winter break. Unlike the Real Bikers (diehards?) elsewhere in this forum, I don't ride through the snow and ice. Anyone else around who switches to skis from wheels around this time?

I don't stop cycling, but I do alpine ski. I'd xc/tele if I lived near trails, but if I'm going up to the mountains, I'm downhilling it or the occassional snowshoe.

I've been three time this year now. I'd like to find someone to go with, I go mostly midweek because if my job.
I like exercising outside, can't get into that trainer thing. Snow means XC skiing, or snowshoeing.
I a lot of hiking, skiing in the winter, trying to stay in shape for the warm months to come again.
I don't get in nearly the exercise I do as when it is warm, but I try.

Today (and most of this week as a matter of fact) I am stuck inside on a treadmill,,YUCK!! Bit i know if I don't it won't be anything for exercise.

I like to go snowboarding, but I haven't for a while because I don't have my own snowboard. I'd buy one, but I spend too much on bike stuff.
My older brother has one, and he's in Taiwan for the next couple years...

I don't stop biking in winter (I'm a commuter) but I do enjoy XC skiing and snowshoeing and climbing mountains still in winter. I will sometimes take my ski pack and bike my skis with me to work (you should see the stares) and then go XC skiing at lunchtime at the golf course next door. The only thing good about golf courses is XC skiing and you don't need much snow to ski a golf course because it's maintained.

In the NYC area, local XC skiing typically doesn't start til Jan/feb unless you go to the ADKs or at least the catskills...

In the last week I biked, hiked and skied. The advantages of living near the Rockies.

You need to change your location because last time I checked, Cincinatti, OH is nowhere near the rockies.

I'm stuck in WI until mid January and then I am looking forward to hitting the slopes. A friend of mine is getting me into skate skiing and I am looking forward to doing that after work for a nice workout.

I believe Lovemyswift has recently moved to western Cincinnati, now known as Lakewood, Colorado.

Telemark skiing is great cross training for cycling. XC is good total body workout and aerobic. Telemark is more anaerobic and works the quads A LOT! Yo Opie, telemark IS downhill skiing (minus the training heels). You can do it on lift served terrain.
