New DIY Project - Dryer not heating up.

Tried all settings, tumbler moves but there's no heat. Filter is clean.

I'm going in!

Check the breakers, Some are on two breakers and one can trip and
kill the heat and let the drum still work.

Seriously. Particurally since you recently moved there.

I sold a house over in the Avalon area that they stripped everything, including the kitchen sink, but left the dryer "because it didn't work."

Only problem was, when the house was originally built, the temporary outside cover placed for final stucco and paint was never removed. No exhaust and huge lint buildup - no wonder the dryer didn't heat up. Removed the cover, and cleaned the lint, and was fine.

Wow, this was an easy one... there is one thermostat before the heating element and another one (different part btw) after the element. Continuity on top thermostat is none. I shorted it out with a cable, turn it up for 30 seconds and heater got red really quick. So, this thermostat is the culprit.

Now on the hunt to find the part. Dryer is a Whirpool "Roper", and thermostat say:

"7266
309F
3977393"

I hope this is not an expensive part...

Last time I did this, it was under $40. IIRC.

Take your propane powered heater out of the living room and put it in front of the dryer. Rig up a piece of flex duct going under the dryer, on the other end place a fan to force hot air from around the heater through the flex duct to the bottom of the drier.

Soon, your dryer will be the least of your worries.

Those dryers have too many thermal fuses and a 10cent breaker strip is $35.

I cheated and by-passed the breaker years ago(you claim to live on the edge?).

Nah... found the part today. It's so cheap they sell all the thermostats/fuses as a kit, instead of separately. The whole kit was 15 bucks. Will replace it in a little bit when it warms out there.

Project has been completed, dryer is operational. I thought it was gonna be a little more challenging. Now I'm gonna have to fix stuff that's not broken to keep me boredom-free.
