Really? well I don't like football, actually I don't like or take part in 99% of sports. Last night I watched because my wife really likes football and she asked me to sit by and watch with her, and when I saw that commercial I was glad she asked me to watch 'cause as I watched I found myself looking past the commercial and looking deeper into a message that I feel we all need to hear.

I don't watch football at all, just popped over my neighbors' to watch a bit, cause she was nice enough to invite us. I appreciated the message, just thought it was abit hypocritical coming from Chrysler...and bizarre coming from Clint.

If you Google for repsonses to the ad, people are both lauding and laughing at it. Some felt it was a pro-Obama ad, others thought it was pure capitalist/conservative. Call me a cynic, but I looked past the message at corporate shilling. Then again, a televised event as big as the Super Bowl is one big corporate shill! It was actually funny, one of the guests where I watched last night was a French woman and she got into a near-argument with my other neighbor over corporate control of American TV.

u caught that too, huh? I thought it was funny how the other performers appeared to be singing/rapping/dancing while the 'star' sorta phoned it in. Having said that, she's aged well and she's still quite the draw after all these years. The people at my party (self excluded) all went gaga over her.

Couldn't watch the whole ad (and this was on YT the next day)... seemed hypocritical coming from Fiat. I'm with Pgoat on this one.

I edited my post because I don't want the thread moved to PnR. I just say I take solace in knowing "Humans" are at their best, when things are at their worst.

He's aged even better and been around even longer than Madonna. Unlike Madonna, I've actually enjoyed some of Clint's work over the years - that's just my $.02, of course.

I wanna add that since I check in and watch a football game every 15 years or so it's mind boggling to me how good the camera work and visual aids are now. You never got such great near-field level footage as you do today, and actually seeing the line of scrimmage was never this easy.

I liked both that ad and the Eminem ad from last year. Detroit is a cool place and it's nice to hear someone standing up for it, even if it is a corporation. Detroit has been America's punching bag for too long.

Clint does a LOT of his own writing and just like his movies, his message is strong. He is one awesome guy.

It's all about survival, pulling through the hard times and how we as Americans survive. Very subtle on the Dodge shilling, I'd say.

I was riding the Sunday night pub crawl last night. We missed the entire game except for the fourth quarter. That's about all I needed to see. I mean, I kind of enjoyed it, but I don't really care what set up that point in the game.

As for the Chrysler ad, the general scuttlebutt I've heard is that it is a thank-you-Obama ad, with an urging to keep the man in place.

Oh right. Sounds like typical Tea Party/GOP bullshirt, trying to politicize an ad that really didn't seem political. Clint is a registered Republican by the way.

I actually first heard it on that bastion of Tea Party propaganda, NPR. Yeah, I know Clint is Republican, but he wasn't paying for the ad. And it wasn't overtly political anyway.

Karl Rove said on Fox News that he was "offended" by the ad. Like anyone gives a rats ass what that old wind bag thinks. I heard that and went to Youtube to see it, couldn't see why anyone would object to that, didn't seem to say much at all, except that Chrysler was getting their sh-t together, but why Clint Eastwood???? Agree it was a bit bizarre, I liked the Doritos spots much better, they made me laugh.

I missed the ad. Well, I saw it, but I was in a room full of 4 to 6 year old screaming nieces and nephews - impossible to hear the commercial. I'll go check it out now.

Btw - I found it interesting that my professional musician brother-in-law defended lip syncing in certain conditions. Dancing around in a heavily choreographed production in front of the biggest crowd of your impressive career is apparently one of those times. She had a pulled hamstring to boot. I liked it - thought it was better than most of the recent shows.
