Very sad news. Such a great talent wasted. I hate seeing people destroy their lives with drugs. Not sure what she died from, but I would bet that it was influenced by drugs in some way.

Another tragedy of a talented singer gone too soon. Much like Karen Carpenter was in her time.

wow, just saw it. so sad, what a waste.
Punctuation is important. It's the difference between "I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse" and "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse"

Don't know what she died of but chances are it was drugs or drug related. It happens on a daily basis in my old neighborhood, people with talent found dead. At least she died in some fancy hotel, the ones found in my old neighborhood were always found in the dirty trash and rat infested railroad tracks, none of them made the news.
You see, their morals, their code...it's a bad joke, dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you. When the chips are down, these...These "civilized" people...they'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve

Maria may have greater range, but Whitney was the better talent.
Sadly, it was only a matter of time.

What saddens me about untimely deaths is the kids left behind. Tho I think Whitney's girl should be like 18 by now... still to young to lose a parent IMHO.

    Not to worry hombre.
She could buy 10,000 used Hyundais and as many cases of Ron Rico Rum.

What did you have at 18?

People on FB are blaming this on her husband. That only underscores the widespread lack of understanding in our society regarding the nature of addiction. Could Ms. Houston's choice of husband have undermined her at the start and led her down the wrong path? Yes. Did Mr. Brown then subsequently lead her to her grave over 20 years? No. She had plenty of time to figure it out and change course. She couldn't do it. Addiction is a very powerful disease. I can't even tell you how much I empathize with her.

ummm.... I am pretty sure Whitney was about broke. And daughter appears to have major issues as well.

That. ^^^^^ but it didn't help that her husband was (more than likely) her dealer.

I do know more than a few people that just stopped doing drugs, all of them long time crack, haroin, and even meth addicts. Sadly they all ended up dead due to complications from years of drug abuse. If you're strong enough you can stop, but you gotta stop early.

Even having much of my family struggle with addiction, I still don't get it. I think for most people, you don't actually truly understand addiction unless you've had first hand experience. I'm willing to admit I don't understand it.
