The "I am not a car guy" club.

I would never, ever, spend enormous amounts of money on a car. Nothing wrong with having an expensive car if the money is buying quality. But if the money is buying looks and coolness factor, I'm out. Even if I make the lottery, you will never see Rube on a 6 figure price tag on a car.

Since "car people" are always making clubs. I hereby declare the foundation of a new club for "not car crazy people", where only owners of regular car owners can enter. To apply, please reply to this thread expressing your dislike for fancy car ownership and list what car you currently drive.

I'll evaluate on a case by case basis and approve applications accordingly.

PS: All Hyundai owners will be admitted automatically, except those who installed wheels that are worth more than the car's blue book value.

Hard to say there Rube.

I own a 1983 Pontiac Bonneville wagon. I've put 50 miles on it in 7 years and 40 of those were driving it home from where I bought it.

However....

One of the best jobs I ever had was driving cars for an exotic auto auction, hopping from Corvette to Rolls to racecar. I grew up wanting to be a car designer, but coming of age during the Oil Embargo quashed those dreams.

So if I won the big one, I would probably get myself a nice fast vintage car. But I'm perfectly happy riding my bike and using public transit.

Application #3

Name-Midschool22
Truck-Dodge Ram 1994
Condition-Running
Value-Couple grand. Less if you include the labor required to remove all of the bike/music stickers plastered over it.

We can get behind Rubes Hyuandai and help him push it into the kitchen for a brake job. Wait, do you do brake jobs in the kitchen or bathroom?

Aplikashun:

Name: Steve
Car: 2001 Nissan Frontier. Acquired truck as ex-company vehicle with 118k on it. Now has 230,000+ on the odometer. A/C quit working a month after buying it and I'm unwilling to spend the $$ to fix it. Needs a wash. Badly.

I take photos of my bicycles but not my truck.

Lean your bike against your truck, but be careful so you don't scratch it. The bike that is.

I am with you in spirit, but when I take the cover off my 740i, zoom through the surface streets, hop on the freeway and watch it dance up to 75mph like a dog begging for bacon I think to myself...this is a pretty nice ride yo.

Cars: 2000 Camry, 189,500 miles. 1999 Plymouth Voyager 116,000 miles. Bought for $1,300 from a 300 lb dead lady's estate. The drivers seat is broken.

I spent 18 years in the automotive parts industry. I've rebuilt engines, customized cars, still do most repairs. Stopped caring about them years ago.

Vehicle: 1998 Honda Civic hatchback
Mileage: ~98,000
Value: I'm trying to sell it and I'll feel guilty taking more than $2,000 for it. And I will not be replacing it! Just have no use for a car anymore.

btw, I stopped being a "car guy" sometime in the early 1980s when I realized that everything I knew about cars came from the "Visible V-8" plastic model I built in ~1969, and that none of that info was still current or applicable to real current cars. Fuel injector? wtf is that?
